Roll Cage dimensions.

Hey Fellas,

New E82 owner here. I just bought a 135 Msport car looking to convert to full race car. I'm planning a full cage and was hoping someone already has most of the measurements done. Also I have to rebuild the LF corner so was thinking of tubing the front chassis has this been done yet? Car can be seen in the thread below.

Updated: Bought a 135 M sport

@Ingeniator I don't know of anyone that's done a tubular front chassis. I know that BRracing makes a bolt on cage, you could probably get some dimensions from them.

Also, Nordic Motorsport built a 1M drift car out of a 135i for a customer and I'm sure you can ask them some questions about building it as well.

Thanks for the info. I'll throw some emails around once I do the gutting and prep work.

Planing on it. Not sure if I'll get to this right away. Have some more projects I should really finish first. It was just to good a deal to pass up though.

EDIT: So I need to get this back to roller status asap. I'm going to leave the struts in the front until I decide a double wishbone or multilink is required. So with that in mind. What Control arms and other unsprung parts should I buy. I see stuff for M3 conversions what about 1M? I'm probably going JRZ for suspension. But I have a set of KW V2's about to be ordered for the 335 any reason they won't fit to get it rolling?

M3/1M control arms are the same thing. The two suspensions are nearly identical.

KW V2's will transfer over but I'm slightly skeptical. People have done it but the two share different part numbers. I would contact KW before installing, but it's certainly possible.
Either way, I wouldn't recommend them for track use in this particular car. The front springs utilize a cone shaped design and hinder the already limited about of tire space up front. You might have rubbing issues above a 235 section width tire. HPA however, has a KW conversion kit for linear Swift springs.

The KW's are for my XI. I just need something in the LF Corner to put a wheel on. Like I said as of now I'm keeping the strut towers and going with JRZ shocks once I start working on the chassis.

My mistake. They will fit to get your car rolling.

When did KW make V2's for the xi? I thought there were issues with that.

No problem thanks for the help. Yeah looks like I'll have to upgrade to the V3's if turners fitment guide is right. I'm getting them through Tiago@VRSF so hopefully he will steer me straight. Is turner a good source for the M3 parts etc. I've used them for brake stuff just wondering if there is a sponser that most guys go thorough.
