Next person to mention Mazda, Evo, or WRX on a BMW forum gets a ban I say. They aren't even close comparisons...crappy short warranties, no maintenance covered and rice plastic interiors...exactly why I don't own any of those mentioned above.

Well, as a person who used to own an NB Miata what a surprise to see it discussed on a BMW forum! I am also very surprised that so many others have owned them and even know about Miata.net! What shouldn't surprise me so much is that driving enthusiasts like discussing great driving cars and Mazdas and BMWs are just that. I just got a smile on my face thinking about driving in the twisties with the top down and the sun shining.

Nice reminder of why it's taken me so long to decide to buy a BMW...

Lets see 4 year 50k miles B2B and 5 year 60k on the powertrain yep crappy warranty.
You would be surprised how many brands get cross shopped by an enthusiast especially when you factor in most cars are worth under 50% after 3 years. Also drive an Evo, STI, and RX8 back to back with a 335i on a challenging road/course with lots of turns and see how they compare. I would not be surprised if the next version Evo soundly beats the new M3. Then again I'm thinking the 135 will be able to also. |

1) "crappy short warranties": In Canada, BMW=4 years all inclusive, Mazda=3 years all incl, 5 years powertrain. So it's a bit of a wash. 2) "no maintenance covered": Thank goodness for that! It's well known that BMW drastically cut back the maintenance intervals when they went to the "covered" plan. That's why we have to be so careful buying a used BMW, just in case the previous owner has only done the bare minimum specified, which is not really good enough to maintain a vehicle. For more info on this, check the forums or Bimmer mag. 3) "rice plastic interiors": Sure, I think my E46's interior looks higher quality than my NB Miata's, but then again the BMW cost almost twice as much when new! Apples & oranges. Any other "logik" you would like to discuss? |
