Mainly because exhaust and intercooler upgrades have to occur to get the full benefit of the upgrade - according to the manufacturer.

Who would want to remove their ECU and risk sending it overseas?

Really? They've always been a flash tune as long as I've known them. Maybe to get around the encryption?

I've only had experience with GIAC on Audi's - had a couple of friend's who went GIAC and it was a nice tune, smooth, good power upgrade. Only reason I didn't choose them myself was because there were people having issues with the GIAC dealer himself back then... now Exoticars are the dealer and they have a good rep.

Also, in BMW circles, people seem to prefer the piggyback tunes. Not sure why. I know for VW/Audi's, people were keen to get away from the piggybacks but perhaps that's just marketing.

I've got DMS, Vishnu, Evolve and GIAC on my shortlist once the N55 tunes come out.

The Vishnu Procede with the new Autotune feature seems pretty hard to beat in my eyes. Once the new house and wedding are paid for it's on my shopping list for certain.

We tend to use more piggybacks because they make more power, and are cheaper...

Well I didnt know there was a GIAC outlet in Australia. If there is all you have to do is bring your car to do the flash there and again to put back the stock map. What I am looking for is a total flash at home solution.
