Need Some West Coast Order Timing Advice
Even though I'm on the East Coast, I ordered my 135i from a dealer on the West Coast to coincide with a road trip vacation. They told me it was a July build car, but when they sent me the production info it shows a late August / early September build [Req. Prod. 2010/08/34, Sub. Prod. 2010/09/35, and Conf. Prod. 2010/09/35 - the dates are in YR/MO/WK form]. This has me very worried, as I have a hard delivery date of September 26 and I'm going to be flying in and driving out. I don't see how the car will be ready in time. Anyone here that has experience with these dates for West Coat orders and what they mean relative to delivery date?

I'm from Orange County, CA. Mine was manufactured on 4-Jun-09 and delivered on 10-Jul-09. It came into the dealership two days before I believe.

Long Beach, CA (Los Angeles County) and I ordered on Apr. 21st and took delivery on the evening of Jul. 9th... the same day it arrived at my dealership. It sounds like your dealer didn't use an existing production slot/change a previously ordered car for you and instead ordered it as a brand new build. Have you given them your deposit yet?

Look at it this way: from the start of production to the port at Bremerhaven is from 7-10 days. It will remain on the dock until the next boat that will be a Wallenius Wilhelmsen ship. Once the ship sails you are looking at 23-24 days to West Coast. Your timeline sounds off to me, but your CA should be able to give you some clarity. However, the CA will not be able to help you until the car starts production. From the start of production to delivery to the port in Cali was six weeks.

When I asked them about it, they said that customer orders [priority 1] generally get pushed up in front of dealer orders [priority 2] and that they were going to be talking to their factor rep yesterday, so I should have a better idea today if I can get a few minutes to talk to them.
And, yes, I put a deposit down from my credit card. That would be easy enough to get back if push came to shove. |

Priority 1 do get pushed up. I was a priority 1. It helps you at the
Bremerhaven to load, and at the port in Cali. This shaves a few days only. You can check the Wallenius Wilhemsen site for shipping dates. I think they project out at least a couple of months. |

I found out what the meeting with the factory rep yielded. He found another dealer's car already at the "in production" stage that's almost identical to the one I ordered [same color and options except without the alarm], so they traded for that in case mine doesn't come in on time. If mine isn't ready by the day I'm there, then I get the other one.
I ordered: Crimson Red Black Boston Leather Glacier Silver Aluminum Trim Value Pkg. M Sport Pkg. Harman Kardon Satellite Radio Anti-Theft BMW Performance Suspension |

Sounds like you will make your timeline after all. Keep in touch with your CA in California for updates and go to the Wallenius Wihelmsen site for shipping details.
