i really want to post in that thread:

why did you buy a 335 over a 135?

because you're a poser, because you want to look like the other million 3ers on the road, because you never really liked bmws pre-bangle, because you need a bigger car to "compensate," because you're insecure, because its what society wanted to you to do, because you think its a status symbol, because you'd rather be drag racing than canyone carving, because you'd rather have the car shift for you, because you think it will get you laid, because you think about what the neighbors would think... i could probably go on for a while.

i don't really have anything against 3ers (well ok, i hate the way the sedan looks), buts its these poeple who bash the 1 series because they don't have an individual sense of style. They say things like "the 1 series makes you look like a girl" but really, the 1 is a upright, muscular looking, classic bmw, that's rough around the edges but is unapologetic about its purpose while the 3 coupe looks "pretty."

On the whole cute thing...

This to me says "Hey, lets go play" Like a big eyed Pug.

This says "You always wanted to drive a go kart right, and the girls think I'm cute, lets go play"

While this says "You talkin to me? I don't see no one else here so you must be talkin to me."

Actually, until I get the gastric bypass this winter, I tip the scales right around there, and I am getting a 1 and fit in it. It helps that I am 6'2" as well so the weight is a little more distributed (as much as 500lb can be).
Granted, no one is sitting in the back seat behind me, but that was the case in our 325i as well.
Hopefully all that will be a moot point in a year, when I will hopefully be in the 200lb range

The point of all that, small really is relative.

A little harsh, but I agree with your main point.

Have you noticed how the only points they bring up in that thread are "135 is ugly" "135 is smaller" and "135 doesn't cost much less". Did it ever cross their minds that not everyone needs a big car (I rarely use my rear seats at all), some people think the style is nice (in black it even hides the potbelly, my single complaint about the looks), and the fact that it costs less is essentially an extra perk because most of us would pay a 3-series price for superior feel? Guess not..

I guess 3 owners are just looking for another Bimmer to hate now that the 3 isn't BMW's "entry level" car any more. But wait, most of those people are 328 owners, and a 135 costs more than a 328...

I've gotten a lot of "cute" comments, mostly from women and girls. But honestly, who gives a fuck what people say with this kind of torque curve, handling, and engineering. I sure as hell don't!

guy started bugging me at the gastation if my car was an m3 too. i said no its a 135, he came around to the back, looked at the "135i" badge and said i must have taped that on.

then he started asking how much cheaper than an m3 my car is and how it compared in performance. i told him the specs and he was pretty impressed and said he especially like the way the front looked.

When the tow truck driver told me how much he liked my car. Right before he towed to it to the body shop.

its like saying to an eye witness, you didnt witness this, what really happened, and they tell the same story never changing, and someone who is supposed to believe them looks at them and tells them they are lying

The 1-series is a great car line, plain and simple. The 3-series crowd that hate on the 1-series, hate because they feel they lose their exclusiveness or prestige with BMW with 1-series owners...obviously because it is a less expensive car.

I still don't know whether to get a 335i or 135i though. Either way, both cars are great.

The 1-series crowd (here at least) is much better than e90 post... however that will obviously not have any weight on which car to get.

335i being a bigger car and wider (handling) are some of the reasons...which I think is legit.

I need to test drive the 135i though..

Where can I get a bumper sticker that reads, "This car made my Boxster call 911?" - puns intended folks, in case you didn't get it.

i don't think the 3-series crowd that hate are being disengenius because they feel like they loose something, i think they have a, how should i say, "herd menatility."

as for handling, the 135 handles better than a 335 -even if its not as wide. http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=125908

i got a rather odd comment a couple of weeks ago at a home depot parking lot. as i was getting into the car, some guy in a truck says "nice car!, is that the new 7 series?"

i was speechless haha, but it was funny none the less and i corrected him with the right info.

I can't say too much because I believe the 335i coupe looks better than the 135i. Another plus is the 335i has dual exhaust pipes while ours has one pipe going back. There are ups and downs for both cars but my priority involves simple physics; driving a smaller car with the same engine.

Who else has an out for any comment? I owned a 1974 2002, and this 135i is my hope bmw is returning to it's roots

that will shut up anyone that knows anything about cars, and leave the others confused I'm sure, I doubt a random person off the street knows bmw heritage
