WTF is going on with the rear seat?

Vacuuming the car today and noticed the side of the rear seat is lifting out... can't seem to get the bottom clips to go in... WTF is going on? Does anyone know how to get them in?

Looks to me like you left it in the down position too long, or had something (or someone) heavy sitting on it. Just my wild ass guess.
