Why would BMW replace something on your car that isn't broken?

It does suck knowing that it may fail at any time. I have lost some confidence in my car after my HPFP failure. Hopefully I have thousands of worry free miles ahead of me.

Do not worry... take it 1 day at a time.

Just know what the symptoms are and keep an eye on it. This problem is quite easy to spot thanks to those who have posted.

I think the first symptom is long start... then second 1 is a Limp car. It has not happened to me, so you will have to RTFM here to find out exactly. If you want a lot of info, you can also PM those that it has happened to. Or just post. I am sure most will explain in great detail.

EspressoBoy

PS
My engine, it has not burned out yet, do you think they will replace it? See the logic? OK it's not the same, cause this is an on going issue... but so is the ECU and they won't replace that either. It's all about the mighty $$$ obviously. And if the failure rate is not higher, they won't throw money away. Plus if the car is too perfect, what kind of $$$ can they get from us once the warranty is over. Gotta save something... to fail after the warranty is gone... lol

Why not ask your BMW service department then? It could be an amusing experience.

Simple, go into your dealer and tell them your car is intermittantly taking a while to start and that I has cut out on you.
Tell them the symptoms are there (intermittantly, fantastic word) and you know other owners who have had the same problem and eventually been stranded when the fuel pump dies and you want it fixed.
Diagnosis may not show fuel pump failure but they have to do something for you.

Hi Darren...Whats the point of replacing a perfectly good fuel pump on the assumption that it might be faulty in the future..

You will probably then get a faulty fuel pump as the replacement..

If it aint broken why fix it.:iono:

I think most of the 135's are showing some type of "Owner Behavior Symptoms" Professor...
