Oh yeah it completely is, but that makes it even more fun when you leave mustangs/camaro's/similar cars behind in the twisty's.

^^^the reason my car retains its horrible chrome oem badging; to let them know how a little 3.0 NA just embarrassed them with miata style speed retention through the apex.

Nothing has changed that makes a real difference.

Your car still weighs more than a 5 series though.

I haven't put the gas I've purchased for the last 6 months or so into my spreadsheet but over the first 22,783 miles, I have averaged 27.2mpg. I don't drive real slow or real fast. Occasionally I get on it but usually I am just moving along with traffic. I know it's possible to get less, my wife does in her 128i automatic, but it's also possible to get respectable mileage if you drive sensibly. It is partially not trying to lead the pack all the time but it is also not operating the gas pedal like an on/off switch. Smoother is faster with better mileage.

I'm assuming he means the e60 5 series, not the newest generation of boats.

Regardless, every BMW weighs too much. our 128's should be 2900 pounds base weight, that'd be a dream come true. My next car won't be a BMW like i've said many times before.

Not quiet true, but I suspect you're still in for a surprise.

e60 528i curb weight: 3380 lbs
e82 135 curb weight: 3373 lbs

Meaning an automatic 135i is heavier than a manual e60 528i.

The N54 and N55 are HEAVY compared to the N52.

Numbers are from BMW, btw.

I need to post more, and I will.

I finally got around to getting M-tech bumpers and just had them painted. That honestly took up a good chunk of change but I'm ready to do something else.

I think I'm finally ready to take the dive; got a PE and my initial plan was to delete the res, install the DISA, and give Evolve a call. I'm still on the hunt for a DISA but GetBMWParts offers a package that I might jump on. 3-stage; done.

Instead of deleting the res I might just step up to headers. Does anyone know about Cali smog regulations or thrown codes with JUST SS headers + a PE combo (..I don't want too much sound..)? Turner has stainless steel SS headers for ~$1700 and TheSt|G's reviews and write-ups have me pretty much sold. Actually, fuck that video in your review, I was instantly sold. SuperSprint should be compensating you for it.

Any comments or advice on what to do next would be appreciated. I'm done with cosmetics and out of warranty, time to get dirty.

No CARB exemption = remove/swap out every two years after your fifth year.

Stig can chime in on the o2 sensors more, but from what i remember he had Evolve turn up the voltage or something on the secondary cats so no CEL is triggered. Apparently there is also zero exhaust smell.

As for sound, I would say do Headers and then the axle back if you think it's necessary. The headers deepen the tone but also raise the volume a tad from what i've heard/read.

I see no O2 sensors past the primary cats, so near as I can tell nothing past the exhaust manifolds should make any difference to the CEL/SES, even on my SULEV.

Evolve can set it so the obd2 says the car has cats when it doesn't. The car still has secondary cats, so no smell once they're warm.

Hey there, welcome! I used a lot in my post without realizing, let me help.

DISA: 3-stage intake manifold. It uses DISA valves and that's about as much as I know about it haha.
PE: Performance exhaust from BMW.
SS: SuperSprint; company that makes really good headers.
Evolve: company that makes a really good tune.

All of them = fun.

Sorry but I'm pretty ignorant on smog checks. First one after 5 years and then one every 2? Is that what you mean? Should I wait to have the car smoged before buying headers and installing? I might not get a tune right off the bat.

Sounds like I definitely need to go Evolve, but it also seems like the tune needs to be custom. Can I get away with their basic tune or should my car be sent away? Ideally, if I simply stick to the 3-stage and and headers, I'd like to just request the tune the TheSt|G received. Either way I should probably be asking Evolve this lol.
