Currently running cobb stage 1+ on my n54 I plan on getting dps and possibly doing some e85. My question is do you guys think I would be better off keeping the cobb and running the e30 map or switching to jb4 and running map 5. I didn't choose jb4 before because the cobb offered more options but I have read that there have been a lot of updates on the jb4 and can now log and read codes as well

JB4 has a lot of features and faster map switch.
It also delivers more power with off the shelf maps. That being said Cobb has smoother power delivery. It really depends on your personal preference. Some people like the smooth power delivery of cobb and others like the instant power that the JB4 delivers ( i like the Jb4 power delivery better). I recommend driving a car with Jb4 before making the switch.

Cobb on my last car made JB4 a no brainer on this car. More features on the JB4 (including safety features for your car!)
JB4 you aren't bound to a tune you need to keep changing. Throw a FMIC on there, map 5 will figure it out and handle it perfectly. Throw a FMIC on a cobb, things won't blow up or anything, but to extract max power you'll need ANOTHER protune. Theres no way I'd run cobb with off the shelf tunes. If you run cobb its what $700+ these days? + whatever a shop charges for a dyno tune for that. Then if your like me and drive in the winter you'll want a cold weather tune etc etc. In the end the JB4 is set it and forget it, and make gobs of power safely. |

i'm interested into switching to the cobb access port v3. i have the jb4 stage 2 and i get nothing but problems with it. Random glitches and the occasional power drop is not what i expected from burger... or was it?
my friend has a cobb and the power delivery is smooth as butter... makes me consider changing.

I have both.
I'm FBO and the Cobb e30 map rips. I also like the Cobb logging better than JB4. JB4 seems to log about a 10th of the data as Cobb (not speaking to the parameters like AFR and boost, but the amount of data gathered in a zero to redline log). That being said, I installed JB4 on top of Cobb so I could use the 1st and 2nd gear boost reduction. Cobb handles fueling, timing and vanos, and JB4 handles boost control. It will seek the JB4 or Cobb target, whichever is higher. My only gripe, is after I installed JB4 (~100 miles), I started to get a loud turbo howl / whine. I'm not entirely sure they're related, but it's very coincidental. I've presently uninstalled JB4 until I can determine the source of the noise. I'm sure I'll re-install it when I've resolved it. I also liked being able to log using my phone and view it on the fly using the 3rd party JB4 apps. It's good when you don't have a laptop handy.
