Insurance Quotes?

Has anyone gotten one? How does it compare to what you are currently driving?

Geico has the 135i in their system. I can't compare apples to apples with quotes so it is pointless to really mention my numbers; however it wasn't that bad a rate. (I was doing multiple cars at the same time with different amounts of coverage)

Thanks. I just tried it out in Geico and that is not bad at all.

Progressive gave me a quote, same rate as I have now. I'll double check this though, I'm suspicious that this will change.

I have Progressive and I did a change of car qoute and there is no change for me going from 02 Infiniti G20 with full coverage to a 135i with the same coverage... i did the same for a 335i and it was about 800 more per 6 months...

Depends... was he US or VC?

Buuut seriously, it does depend. If he was a USAA member, you're eligible. Details here:

Geico: $720/6months. I'm 28 with no accidents or tickets on my record.

I wonder if I could get cheaper elsewhere? I'll check USAA, but I did want to get a ruff hack at it before I placed my order.

Did you get the quote online or over the phone? I checked online a couple days ago, and the 1 series wasn't an option then.

$281.00 a year for full coverage on a 135i.

Somewhat less than the premium on other current vehicles.

I recently spent a good deal of time with USAA's helpful CSR's to learn who is/isn't eligible for coverage. Bottom line (and contrary to some of what is posted above) seems to be:
-- if you qualify due to your current military status
-- if you were previously covered by USAA (when in the military) AND they are able to track down your previous membership details (which proved very challenging in my case, tho' ultimately successful)
-- if you are a dependent of a USAA member (so a thirty-something's Dad who's a USSA member isn't going to be the basis for the son's/daughter's membership)

For those of us in high-risk claims areas (e.g. Florida) and who own real property, there is significant risk these days in disconnecting our home insurance from our car insurance, as it invites the insurance company to cancel home owner's insurance after losing the (relatively more profitable, less risky) car coverage. Losing home insurance can force owners into state-run insurance pools at much higher premiums...so this can be a big mistake.

Sadly, USAA suspended writing new home owners' policies in Florida one month before I regained my USAA eligibility. But it is indeed a great company with exemplary service and very competitive rates. Claims service in particular is outstanding.

So is that the trick to lower your insurance rates? I'm 22 with a clean record. No tickets. I only have one accident in which this grandma tank switched lanes into me and I pay close to 700 every 6 months for full coverage from state farm. I also drive a 2002 Celica GT. Will raising my deductible to around $1k and stating pleasure usage help lower costs? And under 8.5k mi/yr, is that pleasure usage?

I am 46, perfect record and was paying $1100 for a 2007 Civic Si sedan at Country Companies, Allstate was more. I now have E-Surance through Sam's club and pay $856 a year. I hope the 135i doesn't go any higher then $1,000.

For some reason Allstate gave me a quote of $600 every six months for one of their better plans. I find that hard to believe considering i'm 22 living in the DC/metro acrea.

I called USAA today as I was unable to get a quote online as the car doesn't exist in their system. The gal on the phone had to manually over ride their system to give me a quote of $316.00 for a six month policy I'm sure she gave me the Multiple car Disk.

At the end of my quote she informed me that the quote she had just given me was subject to change when they started receiving data on crash safety ratings and all the other hoop-ta-rah! that composes the insurance premiums.

So even tho $316. sounds darn Good I am not going to hold my breath as this car will probably end up in the Sport car group as it only has 2 doors and a Crap load of HP!!!

I guess we'll have to wait and see.:iono:
