diagnosing service due and broken tpms

I Have A Service Due In A Few Hundred Miles. How Do I Figure Out What Needs To Be Done? My Car Has 56K, By The Way.

I Also Have A Broken Tpms. How Do I Figure Out Which It Is?

What icons(in Yellow) are showing up as due?

My best bet would be... engine oil and filter, brake fluid, pollen filter(cabin), engine air filter, wiper blades, and you're probably gonna need brakes front and rear too.

You might consider replacing; the spark plugs(even though BMW says they are good until 100K miles - thats an awfully long time), trans fluid and diff fluids.

How do you know your TPMS sensor is broken ? You need a special scan tool(a dealer or any good tire shop) that can read each tire's sensor - that is how you diagnosis it.

FYI...

DIY resetting service "due" lights…

How long have you had the TPMS sensors? They do eventually need to be replaced from a low battery, and if that was the case, I would just do them all.

I always thought they were piezoelectric. Seems like it would have been the perfect application.

Suppose it is possible, I always heard battery but I would love to be wrong. Maybe it depends on who is making them.

I went in for an oil change last week, they ended up doing oil change, wipers, cabin filter, brake fluid and rear brakes. I was shocked. I only have 21k miles on the car, and just picked it up as a CPO with 18k miles.

That sounds like an "annual" service, which they'll do whether or not you've reached the correct mileage. They will not let a car go more than a year without an oil change, and the rest of the items you listed go along with that.

OP, as for what service is due, you might also check your owner's manual.

I've had the TPMS sensors replaced when I replaced the tires, which usually works out to about 2 years or so. They can apparently rust from moisture that works its way in unless the tires are inflated and maintained with nitrogen.

So all I have is the service due countdown on startup, the car offers no other information besides that. The only error in the car is the TPMS error.

I know a TPMS is down because I started getting the error intermittently and it would correct itself. Then on one long car trip home from visiting family, the tpms failed, and reset itself every 5 seconds, FOR THREE HOURS. Imagine listening to that uffing chime every 5 seconds for three hours...

Anyway, the tires are all full with the correct pressure. Just got new tires today, and according to Goodyear, all of the sensors are working properly (showing up on their scanner), but I still have the tpms dash light on. So now I guess I HAVE to take it to the stealership. Joy.

In 56k, this car has been to the dealership more often than my Lexus went in 170k. Ridiculous. Also, I find it ridiculous that when you have ANY light on the dash, you get a redundant warning triangle in the secondary display that makes it so you can't see 10ths of a mile. Thank you, BMW, for letting me know through a chime, an always-lit warning light, and another generic warning icon less than 2in away that something is wrong. I definitely would have missed it had they not made a functional feature of the car useless...

I dotn think they can rust. I have had these littel devices in my hand before and they look to be mostly composite material and either stainless steel (which i doubt) or aluminum. The valve stem was teh only part that was suspect but i think even that was a stainless which could corrode a little but not rust. Mine were also sealed with an epoxy on one side.

They are all made with a battery similar to a watch battery. They go to sleep after they have not been spinning for 10 mins or so. So, mileage has a big effect on how long the battery lasts. Usually 5 or 6 years.
