Possible group buy for VMR V710's in 1er ofsets!!!!!!!!
I have read so many threads on here about how many people love the VMR V710 wheels but the offsets have been too aggressive to fit on a 1er without major work on fenders and camber adjustments!
Well I decided to send Charles from VMR an email asking if it's possible to make the wheel in the correct offset sizes for the 1er if we can get some interest. Here's the wheel for those who dont know it Charles has mentioned if 19x8.5 ET45 fronts would be OK and according to Motorsport3's installation of the V713 on 19x8.5 ET45 front they seem OK although the rear required some fender and camber work. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...highlight=v710 Ideally I think it should be closer to the Forgstar offsets as they seemed to have fit perfect on Silverstar135i http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...8&postcount=13 Please add your name to the list if you are interested in getting this wheel made for the 1 Series offsets *UPDATE* VMR have kindly responded and are currently testing the 1 Series Offsets. Latest is they have passed the impact and bend testing Sizes which will be available for the 1 Series - 18x8.5" ET45 front 18x9.5" ET50 rear 19x8.5" ET45 front 19x9.5" ET50 rear These offsets are in addition to those already available Last edited by sootyvrs; 08-20-2009 at 09:16 AM.. |

If VMR paid any attention here, they would have realized that there was an enormous interest in the v710's (myself especially). Yet they show no love for the lowly 1er. Did you discuss a price point with him? And I want perfect fitment too.

It can only happen if all the people put their names down.
A downside is of course that all the people who wanted this wheel made in 1er offsets have decided to buy something else because it was never made available in 1 Series offsets. Come on guys this has come from VMR and they will make it if there is a demand..... |

Yes, but there's a huge difference between "demand" and ten people from a company's standpoint. it won't be profitable for them.

I hope everyone doesn't become negative as one thing I have noticed from all the threads I have read and there are many regarding the V710, that every one hasn't grouped together to try and make it happen. One reply saying the offsets are wrong and that's it. Here we have an opportunity.... put your name down details can always be finalised at a later stage collectively. |

i do not understand a single thing about wheel fitment, but as long as i can get 18 with a wider stance in the rear and keep close to factory front, i am happy, or a stock fitment whatever that is

Note: This is not meant to be a "commercial" posting so please forgive me if it is perceived as one. I've also disabled the signature to keep "commercial" elements out of this discussion.
Offering some insight on the viability of this fitment, 8.5 ET45 is definite possible with the V710 without major reconfiguration work in terms of production because we already make this offset for the VW market. Even though the 8.5" ET45 works, it is still an aggressive fitment meaning some coilovers and even tires will cause rubbing. And with the fronts out of the way, the 9.5 ET45 rear is still on the aggressive side so that still needs a bit of discussion. Anyways I'm glad to participate in development of any special fitments for the 1er! -Peter General Manager / R&D / Production VMR | Wheels by Velocity Motoring |

Thanks Peter, any info from your side is greatly appreciated. Would that just be in 19" size?
I for one would be interested in 19" and would even buy a set of 4 x 19x8.5 ET45 if a 9" wide rim is not a viable option. As to this size being too aggressive for the 1er with coil over setup please do look at this thread I posted earlier for Motorsport3's implementation of the v713 ET45 8.5" fronts http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...highlight=v710 It would seem as if many who have expressed an interest want 18" so could that also be a possibility?

Most of our 8.5" wheels can be adapted to a ET45 without consuming too much time and resources. This includes the V710 18/19", V713 18/19", VB3 18/19". Depending on what you guys are looking to get, I'll be glad to participate
