Holy caps lock batman.

I suggest spending some time browsing through the threads specific to the questions you have. Then you'll learn which parts you prefer based on their functions, applications and others experiences, rather than taking someones advice of what they prefer without getting the reasoning as to why.

Too many people come here and ask such a broad question as to which is best, when really there is no "best". Every part has pros and cons, and only you can decide which matter most to you.

For example, I think the Cobb tuning software is best... but that's only for me, someone who's looking for a strictly set it and forget it type tuner who won't play with anything would probably prefer the JB platform. Or someone who wanted to keep their warranty would likely prefer Dinan.

I have some things in mind. That's is exactly why I started this thread to see people opinions then question them on it. lol. Based on my background with BMW what I have in mind so far is RPI Scoops, JB4, MTEC were brightest AEs for my E60 idk for this car which one is brightest, deciding in between K&N, BMS, or aFe drop in filter, and are aFe intakes good for my car (more HP) bc as far as I know they were terrible for the E60s.

My recommendations

Intake/filter: Don't bother
Tune: Cobb
AE: BMS

Other mods I recommend:
Michelin non-runflat tires
BMW performance CF spoiler
BMW Blackline tail lights

Does anyone here think that the search function on this forum is complete shit?
I mean if you search for something in titles only, it will display anything with one of those words, making it completely useless unless you're searching for something super specific like "LCI" or "P3cars.com"

You want an intake on this car. With your tune, depending on how aggressive you're going to be running the car, an intake can only benefit you, otherwise with higher boost levels you will be choking the car. I run the BMS DCI in my car, I think they are only $95 and the install is a walk in the park.

Don't waste any cash on mods until you buy a tuner.

I'd go this route first (start to finish)

1) BMS Oil Catch Can (this car has terrible oil-blow by, will help preserve the turbos a little longer
2) JB4 PNP (N54 Stage 3) + BMS USB Cable + Dual Cone Intake Combo ($600)
3) FMIC
4) Downpipes
5) full exhaust

Don't waste cash on any tune until you have the carbon cleaned out of your intake valves.

Bought mine used with 44k and found this:

There is some debate going around whether the OCC is actually helpful or not, it's been known to cause excess crank case pressure

The search function on this forum is better than the other forum I visit. So it seems to work fine for me but I guess I do use specific things than something random like "N55 tunes" or "best CAI".

Just a tip...

Most forums don't have great search functionality, so if I were Da_Meister_22, I'd use Google and type something like:
site:1addicts.com first mods

http://www.google.com/search?q=site%...com+first+mods

This site has been a lifesaver and thank you all for contributing regularly.

My first mods - I went with the suspension route. Ditch the RFT's and heavy stock rims. Less unsprung weight makes the car very responsive.

Intake - BMS DCI is inexpensive and popular ~$95

AE - I like the LS1's - http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=465567

Software/Chip - I have no experience here. Cobb is easy and more expensive. JB4 has a lot of great reviews as well.

Cheers!

I hope you've got deep pockets my friend, these cars ain't cheap to modify properly.

- Non RFT's, coilovers/Koni's should sort out the hard and bouncy ride
- Larger sway bars, M3 front control arms and rear subframe bushings should sort out the wobbly feel
- Cobb/PROcede/JB4 etc should sort out any stock flat spots and also bump your power up by a huge amount
- Axle-back exhaust should help the car sound like it should have done from the factory
- Cat-back exhaust will help the car breath a little better and sound more aggressive still
- Turbo-back exhaust will unleash all of that sound and tuning potential, you can step up to a stage 2 map and increase the boost
- Bigger FMIC will keep the thing cooler when gunning it and also allow higher boost with a map tweak.
- Anything else is probably cosmetic and your personal preference. Tuning wise you can always go further and brew up an E85 mix.
- I leave filters down here as this is debated day in and day out. I agree than while going WOT a big intake is a good thing when tuned but how often do you run WOT? If not often then it's suggested that the OE paper filter is actually good and better for day to day running/town/preventing heat soak and boggy feeling in low RPMs. Personally, although tuned I do not run an intake as I don't think that the whoosy tsssh sound suits the car.

be it that i live in texas, i bought an accessport first then an FMIC. very noticeable change in the summer. then i bought DCI 'cuz they're cheap and you may as well have them, plus you can now hear some turbo motor sounds coming from the hood. next will be DPs then catback and then I'm done until somehow I come into 20k

I'd go with suspension mods first. Car is fast enough already. Ditch the runflats if you still got them, then go with coils or at least springs. Then once its dropped and looks bad ass, get some black grills to make it pretty. After all that, you can tune to your hearts content. I see you are in Miami, if you have any questions, feel free to pm me and hit me up. Enjoy your new car!

So this "DCI" would be replacing the drop in filter? Or do I still need the filter, and remove that carbon paper where the filter goes (if the E82 brings it ass well..idk). Just like I did in my E60?

DCI replaces the whole airbox. You rip that massive thing out and fit the DCI's with the adapter tubes so that they plumb into your intake hose nicely.

BMS DCI is not the prettiest but it is functional.

Last question..promise. What the purpose of this "blow-off valve". Is it just for "noise" or is there a technical purpose for this unit?? lol.
