ok i know i'm digging up an old thread, but thought it might be an interesting read for some.

on my 130i, if you monitor water temps (through obd or whatever)
you'll notice that when you're going > 100kmh the water temps jump higher. (mine went from 80C - 95/97C) and was a pretty obvious jump.
(this speed may depend on tyres/ car etc..)

The engine is going into i assume a Lean mode, and results in much greater efficiency.

its slightly annoying as most of the freeways I go on around here are 80, and would love this high efficiency mode at lower kmh.

80C, really?

My 135 sits at 105 to 107C regularly.

yeh that would be your oil temp, (and is fine)

i was quoting water temps (pre-lci 130i dont have any temp gauges so was using an OBD device)

No, oil temp is more like 115-120c, water temp is usually 100+.

FYI - My average fuel consumption per 100kms is 18ltrs. I sit in traffic stop/start for 5km every day. always 98 premium

The idrive is showing that I'm averaging 14L/100km. The only fuel I use is BP ultimate. Last tank was $1.82 per litre

I do about 6 km per day go and back from work. I average about 11.5ltr with jb4
