Confirmed, 255/35/18 and 275/35/18 PSS on ARC-8
Welp, blew a runflat that I was running on while I capitulated on getting my coilovers and fat PSS tires installed. Big pothole ended up introducing a cut somewhere below the sidewall on the side of the front left, won't hold a pound of air. Give the runflat credit for getting me home (~10 miles) on zero pressure from where it occurred.
Setup is 255/35/18 front and 275/35/18 rear on a factory suspension 135i with Apex ARC-8 (18x8.5 +45, 18x9.5 +62, the non-M 1 series fit set). I took a quick drive up and down the road with no immediate issues. I then removed the front alignment pins and pushed the strut tops in (seems they are slotted from the factory, got 3-4mm of movement, maybe 0.5 degrees of extra camber if I'm lucky?). Been running it for a few days without any rubbing. I haven't really thrown the car around corners super hard yet, though. I expected a lot of immediate rubbing issues, but nothing so far. Fit is EXTREMELY close on the inside. Front inside the tire is damn near touching the strut. I might be able to slide 2 pieces of printer paper in there. On the rear, the inner front of the tire touches the fender liner when the car is lifted. Still very close when the car is dropped, again, maybe a few pieces of printer paper could slip in there. Final setup will be Eibach MultiPro R2 coilovers with Vorschlag camber plates, but found out I ordered the wrong thread pitch for the topnuts after getting the entire front suspension apart. I am worried the extra thickness of the perch threads over the body of the strut on the coilvers will touch the tire, so I'm considering ordering some 3mm spacers along with my correct topnuts. I'll report back in a few weeks on that, along with any rubbing marks I find. I'll post pictures later. Big thanks to the folks at Apex Wheels for making such a great set of wheels to maximize tire fitment on this car. Haven't driven it hard enough yet, but so far the PSS tires seem decent. Previous summer/autocross setup was 235/40/18, 265/35/18 Dunlop Z1.

Makes me wonder if I can fit a 245/35/18 pss with no rubbing on stock suspension. My set now is 235 265 would love to change that to 245 265. Think I can fit a 245/35 there ? I have the same wheel et up front too.

I would guess you'd be fine if you remove the alignment pin to get that extra little bit of front camber. I figured I'd be immediately rubbing all over just driving around, but I'm not.
Of note, my front fenders are rolled. I'm not sure if that is factory or what, I got my car used. The inside lip across the top 20 degrees or so is bent up almost fully flush with the outside of the fender. The rears are not, but I don't seem to be in danger of hitting the rear fender. One other aside, the 275/35/18 PSS has two 1"+ wide voids in the middle of the tread. I'd almost say the 255 has the same actual tread to the ground as the 275. I noticed it immediately when I got the tires in, but since I intend to autocross I'm not super worried about the reduction in understeer that may accompany that. May be something to consider for those looking at the PSS vs. others. Stohlen: Not too surprised. It's gotta be super close on the inside when lifted, though! I figure if it really came down to it the fender liner could be trimmed a bit, too. I haven't taken them out to see what they are really protecting at that spot.

Freon, what's your alignment, particular camber currently?
I've been running 255/35-18 square for a while with a 3mm spacer in the front. That seems to work very well. I'm highly considering running 275's in the rear next, but I am concerned about the fit. My rear fenders are rolled though so maybe a 3-5mm spacer in the rear would make this work well? Let us know how the next autocross goes |

I'm gonna try to fit 295s. But only after I measure the crap outta everything prior to see if its feasible. Might have to use a spacer and pull the outside fender slightly with my forgestars.

int2str, I don't know the alignment, just that I popped the pins and maxed camber. I might have -0.8 to -1 if I'm lucky. This is really just temporary until I get the coils and camber plates in, but I intend to target about -2 to -2.5 in front. One of my E46 M3 buddies was running like -4 on his car, but mine is not a dedicated car so that seems a bit extreme to me (plus he had 285 hoosiers all around, coilovers, etc, very prepped car).
The Vorshlag plates also have 3 castor positions. The lowest caster appears to mimic stock with the two others adding. Anyone have opinions? I'm tempted to go +1 on castor to get a tiny bit more dynamic camber when turning. Not that I didn't just blow $1100 on this set of tires that will hopefully last a year or two, but next set I'm tempted to go 285 or 295, add 5 or 10mm spacers, and try to cram them in there. The rears look like they have some room to be rolled a bit, plus the inner fender liner could probably be trimmed a bit.

Front strut clearance, this photo is slightly deceiving due to the light (photo of front left from behind looking towards front of car):
Front strut, this photo is more representaive of the gap, maybe a few pieces of paper fit in there... Still room height wise, at least to clear the stock strut. Rear inner spacing when car is lifted, it's pretty much touching (photo looking down to rear driver's wheel): When on the ground the rear wheel sits much higher, and that fender liner curves inward at higher points. You can also see one of the massive tread gaps in the 275/35/18 PSS near the inside shoulder. I'm still just running around with the alignment pin out and have flogged the car harder around a few curves, still no rubbing. I think a 265/35/18 in front might not be out of the question with a 5mm spacer...

I'm running the same Arc 8's 255/35/18 fr 275/35/18 rr with Hankook R-S3's with no spacers or fender pulling and it seems to do just fine. I've rubbed a couple times in the back over huge potholes, but all in all pretty good. On the track the huge rubber really helps especially under braking. Braking zones are dramatically shorter. Love this setup!

Update, there is a bit of rubbing on the driver's side.
Meh. It clearanced itself. I do think there is more room on the outside so I'd guess a 3mm spacer would eliminate this and not really cause issues on the outside, but I guess that also depends on your suspension setup, how low you are. More camber might make that worse, but I wouldn't think lowering the car would make it worse. Passenger side shows a hint of touching but no real wear.

Not a whole lot to add. I did add 5mm spacers to the rear today. I already posted showing where it wears on the left/driver's side inner liner. There was a tiny amount of scrapping showing on the passenger side as well when I looked, but less than the driver's side.
When the car is full lifted the rear tires actually touch the diagonal brace that connects the rear subframe to the rocker panel area of the frame. Probably not an issue as during even aggressive driving it is unlikely both wheels will be extended, and the sway bar, as small as it is, should keep the inside tire from completely drooping. I suppose if you catch air it could be an issue. The spacer moves the tire off the brace, and I suspect will take care of the tire wearing the liner for the most part. I took a careful look everywhere else, front and rear, and saw no more signs of rubbing besides the rear liner covered above. I'll report back if the 5mm spacers seem to cause issues, but I really doubt it. Interesting since Apex changed from the +62 on the ARC-8 to +58 for the EC-7. I tend to think +58 is actually closer. My 5mm spacers give me +57. edit pics: Here is evidence the tire is touching the brace. It's really nothing I think anyone should really be concerned about (you can also see my Whiteline subframe inserts which I ♥ and highly recommend, see my DIY thread in the DIY section): This is with car up on stands, so it doesn't really touch on the ground, but the tiny amount of rubber you see above shows it must touch sometimes. After spacer, brace clears tire, again, this is with the car up on stands and suspension fully drooped on both sides: Here is the companion shot of the passenger side showing a touch of scraping (not as much as driver's side which wore a hole through the liner, see a few posts up): I'd still say anyone can go for it with no spacers. Really the above issues are super minor and really with the car actually on the ground things are touching that much or often. There is NO noticeable wear anywhere on any tire. I took a really careful look at everything today while installing wheel studs on the front and the spacers in the rear.

Nope, like I said, I took a very careful look today with all the tires off. Not a single spot looks like it was touching on either the liner, fender, or tire on the front.

Make sure you get a 35 series, because my 245/40s rub on the same size wheels. Had to pull the fenders a touch.
