Help...Brakes squeak after 2 brake jobs need advice.

Despite no replies or advice i thought i would update everyone anyway.Budds actually put on all brand new pads and rotors today after my continuous brake squealling issues.Car only had 7500kms.Dont buy into this all performance brakes squeak or this theory of break bedding all the time..

Here is my summary...

I have 09 135i,bought september 8,2010 with only 2025kms.Yes 2025.Brakes sqeak all the time with soft braking from 20kms down to zero.

First visit oct.6 2010 with 3700kms.

bmw report:Low km on vehicle almost 1 year old.Rust build up on edge of rotors and on pads.
correction:Removed pads and chamferin edges and cleaning rust build up on rotor edges.Remove front and rear calipers, clean contact points.Chamfer edges of pads, reassemble road test ok.......

2nd visit november10 2010 6000kms as break sqeeling same as previously reported.

Bmw had car all day and said they could not hear anything.Manager repoted no sqeaks during test drive.I found out they were testing the brakes with hard breaking. Not soft.I drive literally 10 feet and the brakes are screaming.I go back into budds very frustrated and the manager comes for another test drive and wow it sqeaks!Sound replicated and another appointment booked.

3rd visit nov 30 2010.Car has 6800kms

bmw report:removed all calipers, clean and lubed all pads and slides.Claipers reinstalled and noise is gone.

The same BS continues WTF do i do now. This seems nuts to me.They cant fix brakes.Advice please.

greg

Just turned 55,000 kms. Breaks squeek and squeal on every soft stop and have done so since 2000 kms. Sorry but it's not going away anytime soon.

Mine have been doing this since almost from day 1... booked it in to have them cleaned and lubed... returned after a week... just have to live with the noise... apparently, they stop squealing for a few days after I give the car a good wash and then will return... so I take it it's due to brake dust (?) in my case...

The brake squeak will only be solved by replacing the pads and rotors with new ones. Not refsurfacing or cleaning of your old brake parts.

AND even then... after the brakes are half way worn down... your likely to hear more sqeaking. The squeaking is cuased by the pads vibrating in the caliper. You should make sure they use some sort of lube and paste on the back of the pads (so they do not vibrate) in the brake pad carrier (ie the caliper)

you could also be braking too gently.... they are performance brakes, just get one them once in a while, you've probably just built up a glaze.... just like riding a clutch, they become glazed if you're too gentle on them.

or as someone else said, could just be vibration.

if you don't like the sound, don't upgrade to a semi metallic pad ever...... you'll hate it.

Just swapped my OEM pads out for Endless Ewig pads to stop the squealing. Got sick of it after 10,000km and three prior attempts to clean everything up and put on a anti-squeal compound. That only ever worked for a day or so.

My experience was that you have to go through the checkbox of solutions and you will get some relief. Certainly don't live with excessive squeak--it's not "normal". Some squeal is, but in my case the dealership scrape + some hard stops made all the difference. I did think I was going to have to live with it, but not really in fact.

my car is going into service next week and was gonna bring this up also, my car didnt start squeaking till about 12,000 miles, so annoying.

I have found if I brake hard enough and get them hot, they dont squeak. My last car was the same, if the brakes were cold they would squeak but it was like that from day one, not after some mileage like the 1er

This just started happening to me last week! Was going to try and take it in next week perhaps to see if something could be done to fix this issue
