Black car...which color rims?
Hello, I am looking at buying some APEX rims staggered to run 235 front and 265 in the back. My question is this, I have a black car and have no idea what color rims to get.
Was wondering if not too much to ask some pics of cars with rims (preferably Black car). Thanks for the help! Cosmetic updates since pic: - Performance black grills - HID lights BMS - Black Line LED Tail Light These are the rims I am looking at and my pic of my car: |

I vote for silver. I like the look of the bright silver contrasting with the black paint. I also find a nice looking wheel like the Apex you are choosing shows better in silver. The black wheel blends in with the tire and the car. You are spending some big $$$ on the wheels so show them off!
My rims for my snow tires are dark grey. They look good on my car but I prefer the stock silver. The black wheels are nice in the winter as far as keeping them clean. It sounds like you are blacking out most of the car so maybe black is the choice for you. Either way...good looking wheel you have picked. |

Really a personal choice, I don't care for black on black, and would vote silver of the three choices given.
What do you like.............!!!! ??

This is 100% subjective, but IMO all black gets old after awhile....If you had a white car it would make for a nice contrast, but one color will drown everything out. Go with silver man.

I went with Anthrocite Apex wheels. Dark silver is how I'd describe the color.
The thing is, brake dust makes silver rims look bad after just a few days, so the darker the wheels, the less you'll be cleaning your wheels (if you like the look of a super clean car). |

Powercoat them a bright color
Powercoat the rims a bright color. I was thinking of going black on black, but personally didn't like the look. I'm against silver because my stock rims are the bright silver 135is style rims and they look great. There is no point in getting a similar setup.

I will probably not use my stock rims at all. Will either sell them to make up for money or just keep them to replace before sale.

Anthracite. Best of both worlds.

I was in your same situation, never even considered gunmetal wheels. I came across a really good deal and took a chance, and now I wouldn't have gotten any other color. Its a nice balance between the stock silver look and the aggressive black. I have pics in my sig but lemme know if you want some more. Cheers. |

Silver wheels can look good on black, especially if you have silver window trim or silver kidneys to match.
Silver or anthracite will also accentuate your low profile tires. Wheels that are too dark "blur the line" so to speak. If a low profile sidewall is something you like, keep that in mind. I agree with most replies though, Anthracite is the way to go. You still have contrast between the wheel and the tire and a more aggressive look, but your wheel wells don't become black blobs. In my opinion, black wheels rarely look better than the gun metal/anthracite alternative.

I say anthracite. My summer wheels on my current car which is black, are black. And I obviously like it but I like the more gunmetal look on a 1 series...
