Smile Spyder Headlights

Finally received my Spyder headlights with Xenon and Angle eyes.

Review:

Build quality is actually quite good, nothing to complain at all. The Angle Eyes are as suggested not as bright as OEM and the LED's are build in. I think they could be changed as they are soldered in, but for now I don't feel like taking the lights apart. Nice and bright at night, in daylight not so much but still visible.

I ordered them at 360Tuning as they were the only once offering them with a Xenon modul which will throw no error message in my OEM halogen setup car.

I coded out the orange signals during DLR and added a LED strip on top of the headlights, not sure yet if I keep it or if it looks a bit ricy. What do you guys think?

Installation was straight forward even though getting the bumper of is a PISA. The angle eye LED had to be wired separately and since I wanted them to glow day and night, I coded the DRL to not using the high beams dimmed but the little parking light. I than disconnected the parking light and connected the Angel eyes and the LED eyebrow strip to it. No error at all, and if I would set the bulb check to nicht_avtiv. Anyway, there are also two little bright white LED's in between the low and high beam with I wired as DRL, so it's a bit brighter in daylight.

Nice mod, the Spyders have a cleaner look than the Depos IMHO. The front bumper is a PITA isn't it.

The 1st pic is spectacular, but IMO the LED strips ruin the 2nd pic. To each his own... Like how clean they look tho!!

Yeah, I'm not sure yet about the LED's, but they do look much better in person.

No comparison, much better and brighter, I went with the normal white and not blue or so, gives you the most lumen.

I bareley noticed the LED Strip, so see if you will keep it. Anyway lights look good.

Can i Suggest a set of Mattig or Bimmereyes eyebrows= refer to pic 2 left light and the top reflection. this should finish off the custom look

Well, I might have to take better pictures, the headlights have actually a matt "eyebrow" on top of the light, the picture does not really show it, here is a better close up picture:

Maybe you are right.

Im just thinking from an aesthetics point of view the dramatic angle over OEM of the turn signal separation may look best with an eyebrow, could match the 3 plastic strips in turn signals

Maybe Vynyl will work. 1er forum.de has DIY template, but its for A4 sized paper, so when printing do not scale. it easy to fill in the missing pieces

Well, there would be no reason to install those headlights, if I would have had adaptive headlights in the first place. So, yes you would loose the feature ut it does not make much sense. Adaptive headlights only come with Xenon from the factory, so why would you want to install aftermarket headlights if you have better OEM ones.

Thanks for your mini review, it convinced me to order a pair for my car. So from a complete noobs standpoint, I buy an HID kit and they'll plug right into the SPYDER's and I'm good to go?

there is a combo kit sold with HID by some vendor.
I think the OP of this thread has the link in one of his post.

They do look good...

Reason for ordering the combo kit was the "no error" setup, of course I could also code out the bulb check in the modul, but as a kit it was less bothersome.

I think there will be no issues and DRL may be as usual, might need coding to get it to work like you want it to

EDIT: DRL may be that small led bulb in the middle of the light

Actually DRL will still be your high beam at half brightness, which I did not like. I coded it to use the small parking light as DLR and disconnected the wire, soldered it to the LED's for the ring and the small 2 middle LEDs. This way the halo rings are always on, day and night.
