This may be a stupid question..
Located in the trunk on back of the trunk lid
What is the yellow plastic thing with a string attached to it. I snapped it off and was not sure what it was so put it back. looks like something happens when you pul it. This something simple but I don't have access to my instruction book at the moment. :iono:

That's so the bodies can remove themselves from the trunk. It's a 'glow-in-the-dark' yellow and that item was mandated in order to allow 'children' who may play in an open car trunk, and find themselves accidentally closed in it, the opportunity to pull the 'yellow plastic thing' and escape.
Now, is this something that needs to be moved to the 'warranty' section? ; -) |

So to summarize this. If you have kids of your own get the cold weather package and always keep the car locked!

Because it's hard to get leverage on the latch when their arms are tied behind their back... err... what? Did you say something?

hot damn i was right. This only does help for people who accidentally get into the trunk and have it close on them. Not for the people who get kidnapped, tied up and mouth taped shut..or if the criminal just removes the handle all together.

You can't go through the backseats into the main car to get out. When you lock the car, the interior door locks/handles do not work and you can not get out of the car. The unlock button on the dash does not work either. If this is only my car then I apologize, but I'm certainly not going to get it fixed if its broken. I like the feature personally.

You are partly correct. If you lock the car the handles do not work but the unlock button on the dash does open the car. I locked my wife in the car and she got out.

I know someone who suspected his wife was cheating on him. On a Friday evening when she was going "shopping," he jumped into the trunk of her car beforehand. When she did arrive at her "destination," he waited a few minutes, pulled that yellow plastic tag, jumped out of the car and found his (ex) wife.
Busted!! I seriosuly doubt that it was a Lotus Elise, though. How long could one stay in there? : ) |

So this car doesn't appeal to serial killers?

I had mine reconfigured so that it doesn't open the trunk anymore. Now when you pull it, a pneumatic boxing glove punches you in the face Looney Tunes style, knocking you back out while you are locked in my trunk. It keeps me from having to pull over on those long trips to hit my victims in the head with hammer to knock them back out.

No, no, Displacement is right, it's the trunk monkey exit handle.

Hmm, to be perfectly honest, that is the exact scenario I did and the unlock button does not work when my wife presses it. I guess if I kidnap someone, I'll lock them in the cabin instead of the trunk and make sure I'm parked far enough away so no one sees their face peering through the window. |
