Coilover choices
I know that there are a ton of threads on different coilover set ups but I haven't been able to find one thats in-depth enough about the eibach R1 or R2 for our cars. Its a kit I'm defiantly considering and was wondering if anyone was running it. I am also considering the ST xta's and maybe BC racing ones. If anyone else can recommend something for occasional track use and daily driving, with a good level of adjustability please let me know. Thanks!

Tc Kline is another solid choice.

BC Racing shouldn't be on your list.
Really depends on what your budget is for coils. There are good options at each level, but nothing worth putting on the car for less than ~1500 TBH. If you're under that, I'd go with a stock design damper+spring combo. If you have substantially over that, things could get interesting.

I have XTA's and I hate them. Quality issues, persistent rumbling noise and a snapped stud up top. Bouncy ride, and actually pretty soft springs. Doesn't feel planted, almost dangerous mid corner weight transfer.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that have you reached out to ST? Sounds like a defective set or a bad product.

Bought them through FRsport, not eligible for a return and they say to deal with ST.

Anyone tried speccing out a set of the Fortune Auto 510's? Look like a good set up wouldn't mind paying the extra coin for the modularity and custom spring rates. over the PSS10.

I just had the Bilstein PSS10 installed but have not had a chance to get to the track yet. I've only driven it about 30 miles since the install but it feels more stable and planted. It's hard to tell anything on the street so I'm waiting until I get to the track to offer an accurate assessment of the setup. One thing I do know is that they weren't cheap!

Bilstein makes quality kit. There are kits for adding swift springs to your Bilstein coils as well.

Just ordered the PSS10's. Unfortunately my car was involved in a accident on Friday and is currently in the shop. Taking the time to compile parts to take my 1er to the next level.

KW V2 or TC Kline SA if it were my choice.
I just installed the TCK SA on mine and I'm very happy so far. Still on winter tires too.

What ride height did you end up setting at? Is the front perch above the tire? Did you have to use spacers in the front? What size wheel and tire on the front? |

I test fitted my ET45 18x8.5" VMRs with a 245/35-18, and there is veryyyyy little strut clearance. I have 5mm spacers on the way. Spacers are not expensive but Swift Spec-R springs help fitment since the spring is a lot shorter, so the perch sits way higher and away from the tire.

Thanks. I have 5 and 3 mm spacers just in case, but I'm hoping I won't need them because i will rub on the fender. I have 235/40 apex arc 8 8.5" et 45 with about 2.5 degrees camber via dinan camber plates and m3 bits. With my fender rolled and sliiiigtly pulled, the tire wears off the paint in the front and rear of the inner fender. You never hear anything, but I always check during oil changes and have to cover up the spots with primer.
Your 245/35 has a shorter sidewall by about 10 mm so if yours was close to the perch I may be screwed! Haha. I will be running the tc plates so that may make a difference too. I guess I will find out how everything fits when I get it installed. I am hoping to get ride height at about 1/2 a finger without a spacer. |
