I want to get these in 17's ? What size will work the best for the 135 and what size tires? I was thinking of going 17 x 8 with a square set up.

I think davemonhan has 245 on his 17x8s.

It seems as though some of the people running a 17" square set-up are using a 245/40 tire. Hopefully someone chimes is.

Yea, I'd like to know if there are any clearance/rubbing issues with that setup as well.

There would be no rubbing under normal circumstances but if you lower the car and run a tire known to be wider than normal (Dunlop Z1 SS, for example) you could rub from time to time. I can't say for sure.

If you look at this thread, most people have rolled fenders when using >=245 in front. On my square 225 ET40 8.5x17 set-up i have -1deg camber and it looks pretty tight in front. I one must have 245 rear, than a 225 8x17 ET40 front and 245 8.5x17 ET40 set-up seems wiser and will be pretty flush all round (8.5 in front is slightly outside my front fenders).

do you think it will rub with 245's up front even with a 8X17 rim instead of 8.5? Would running a 225 square set up negatively impact traction at the real wheels too much?

When I switched 17x8 all around, I used an existing set of 225s I had. The rear traction does not seem to be negatively impacted. With no LSD on the 135i, I'm not sure there's going to be a big difference between 225, 235 and 245.

Digging up an old thread here. 245's up front on an 8" rim and an offset of 40 will rub hugely. I'd estimate than anything wider than 225's and an offset less than 38 will rub. Mine just clear with an offset of 38 (8") on 225's (actually protrude ~2-3mm outwards from the fender).

Actual experience with a 245 square on an OZ 17x8 et40 wheel here.

My star specs are the most squarewalled 245s you can get in this size. And they dont rub under normal circumstances.

They rub slightly under heavy dips, this is easily fixed with some slight negative camber up front or a minor roll or even a less squared off tire like a PS2. Its nothing unlivable on a daily basis.



Thats the worst you can expect, hardly worth calling rub, let alone huge rub.

My 8" front on ET 38's with previous Hankooks (225's) certainly did - I could clearly hear it. Minor in my case so I thought a 245 quite a different story. (Personally I'd just stick to 225's front and play safe).

You do mention mods however: negative camber which in my experience will wear the tyre more unevenly (not so?) or rolling fenders. I'd rather avoid both and keep entirely stock, not sure about the OP.
