Is this an OEM bumper?

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

I'm looking to buy this 128i. I believe it has the sport package, premium, and cold weather package if that makes any difference.

The thing that worries me are the several rectangles on the rear bumper. I've seen other 128's with a single rectangle on the bottom right but not 3 of them and I'm assuming the circles are some parking distance radar thing.

That's really interesting. I've never seen that either.

If it's not OEM, the fitment is INCREDIBLY good for an aftermarket part. With that being said, that's not the sport bumper. If the seller says the car has the sport pack, it either doesn't, or the rear bumper has been replaced with a non-sport bumper.

Excuse my ignorance but is there a "regular" sport bumper? I'm aware of the M-sport bumper that looks like the 135i bumper but I meant to clarify this only has the regular sports package.

That is the standard 128i rear bumper without the full M-sport option. Maybe the car has sport seats?

When you order the full M-sport option on a 128i the car will look just like a 135i except the exhaust tips will be silver and it will have fog lights in the front spoiler - while the 135i never came with fog lights.

The 2012 128i's also had a different standard from bumper to further confuse people.

Pretty sure that 2012 front bumper you're referencing is the SULEV bumper. That aside, so basically no bumper included the 3 rectangles on the rear and I should ask the seller why there is an after market bumper and have that be a possible clue that the car has been in a past accident?

Fantastic info as always. Too bad duraflex to my knowledge never actually came out with their BMWPerformance based widebody. But they are selling the standard body BMWP panels AFAIK.

I believe what you're seeing is the rectangles/cutouts for the rear mounted bike rack option BMW offered, but we've almost never seen.

See this thread as I think it'll have the answers you're looking for:

Yep, that's definitely it! Never seen that before.

That answers your question, OP. Just keep in mind that it's not a sport bumper though so either the car doesn't have the sport pack fitted like the seller claims, or if it does, the rear bumper has been replaced with this one for some reason.

Do you have photos of the front of the car?

Now, that I look at the photos again.... I don't think this car has any sport package... look at the steering wheel... that's the regular wheel not the M-sport one.

OP Do you have the car's VIN or last seven digits? Just use a VIN search engine to find out what options the car has. This is often a better way to see what the car really has option wise.

Damn your right!

Ok, you made me go pull my 2010 ordering guide from when I order my car thru Military Car Sales here in DE. These prices are less than ED prices(slightly).

Shadowline trim was optional on both the 128i and 135i. I know on the 135i shadowline trim was linked with the two M-sport option packages. I wasn't sure about the 128i that's why I included it here.

Ah! This makes a lot of sense now especially since the owner told me there is a scrape on the rear bumper from the bike mount.

Was wondering why this was the only bumper i've seen this way and it seems its an options that is rarely ticked.

In regards to the sport package, here are the last 7 digits of the VIN: VF06595.

It has the shadowline trim, sports seats, and m sport suspension listed so i believe it does have it. I wish it was the m-sport package but I don't think it that was offered in 2008 for the 128i.

At least it has the sports seats and steering wheel then, which are pretty important and would probably be dealbreakers for me at this point, having owned a 135 without them and then a 135is with them.

I suppose if the rear bumper really bothered you, you could try to source an alpine white 128 normal bumper or 135 bumper. You may never find another one with that rear bike mount rack "upgrade" done. Was mostly for convertible owners who obviously couldn't utilize the roof rack system most use. Interesting to see though.

Yea, I was just worried that the owner installed an aftermarket one and that it may have been in a past accident. I actually think it works out for me since the bumper has a scrape on it and I wanted to upgrade to a 135i bumper anyway.
