That was terrible. The show, not the 1 series. The "let's race around the track to prove the EVO is okay" was pathetic.

Rubbish.

I dont think you've seen both shows enough. If you have, you'd know that fifth gear NOW is more tech oriented, while Top Gear is entertainment first, tech second. But both shows have the test section, an occasional race, etc.

And FYI, Top Gear was before Fifth Gear, and JC was there before TN. When TIff and Becky left, JC stayed on, and TN and Becky now have 5th Gear. So how can Top Gear COPY Fifth gear is beyond me. Like saying that BMW is copying Brilliance or whatever other spout of car brands that come from China these days and rip off the designs. It's the other way around at best.

They are a child company to Top Gear UK, owned by the BBC

Fifth Gear is a knock-off of Top Gear UK (the only good one, IMO)

I tend to dislike how subjective shows like these are.
But, they do show the cars doing what they want to do: going fast.

And although Ill give you that the driver of the Evo probably wasn't winning any touring car championships, the driver of the 1 was pretty much terrible.
He lost the back end on a prepared race track twice in one lap.
I've lost the back end of my 135 once in 6 months and it was on a sandy poorly maintained backroad when I was driving far from my best ability. And Im not even good at my best.
With a 30mm gap in tire widths from rear to front the only explaination is ignorance.
Then again maybe he was doing it on purpose.
JC does it all the time and it pisses me off.
If you're going to drift, fine, do it in a drift section of the episode. I love drifting. But don't drift when you're supposed to be showing how fast the car can go around a road course.

but you gotta understand, showing car go fast is boring - unless you put camera and have car zoom by it very close by, knocking it off in process. What the public likes to see more is some powerslides, some sideways action, smoking tyres. Yes its not the way to drive the circuit but when Clarkson does it, it's just for fun, and it IS fun.

135i performed in the straights and was more fun through the corners.

Agreed.
PLus I NEVER seen AWD car lose to RWD on initial acceleration. That's sraight up lie! EVO/STI can gain on Corvettes/M3 the first few feet until RWD cars gain traction.

That's not true the 135i is exceptional off the line and I have raced many Evo's 8 through to 10's from a dig and the 135i always gets the better of it. The torque comes in so low and launching the 135i is fairly simple.

If you dig through some youtube vids you'll find that the 135i takes the E92 M3 from a dig as well but it doesn't take long for the M3 to overtake it.

Lol. I actually think Warren (the guy with the mo-stash) is the Aussie version of James May. He has very little driving experience and he is actually a cartoonist. James May and Warren would have a great contest, even so I think James would come out on top!

After all, James May has received driving lessons from the Finns.
