335i DCT first run
Hi all
a week ago I picked up my 335i m-sport with DCT. I really enjoy the DCT, the shift are so smooth in D you can hardly feel it. With +/- 70km an hour it already is in 7th gear. I have tried to break in the car, but failed terribly. I have done +/- 600 km now and decided to make a quick movie to show you guys how the dct shifts. I have to say I like to do it in manual mode, the DCT shifts a bit late (+/-7000 revs) in automatic mode, I have the feeling its better to shit arounf 6700 revs. But Its not easy to shift and hold the camera. So I only made a movie of the autmatic sports mode. the road was pretty wet, DSC was on. You can see it cuts the power in first gear. I also didnt rev the engine first, just step on the pedal. I am sorry for the weird sound in the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pf3X_BkjM4w |

I think manual mode is maybe even quicker, I like it over the auto function for hard driving. Will try to make some more movies! |

wow there is no whine out after the shift. one thing i hate about bmw tranny is the whine out almost turbo sound after the shift.(weeeeeeeeeee) i happens in my 328xi, 335i,325i,535i horrible, but the DCT fixes that.

Did some runs with my Gtech pro, with DSC off and in Manual mode. Too bad I dont have good roads over here. The road I tested is going a little bit uphill and in a turn, will try do another run tomorrow on a better road on post the files (if I can find the damn cable)
had the following times: 0-20m: 2.380 0-100km/ph: 5.638 0-400m: 13.23 speed 169.7km/ph The car has done 900km now. |

I thought the 1/4 mile time and speed is pretty much the same compared to others. I did a 5.7 sec to 100 km/h run, but with a full gas tank + girlfriend + 40kg of grosseries, on a better road. probably have to do some practise to get it under 5.4 seconds, this is my first rear wheel drive car. I dont know if the engine will get more powerfull after a few thousands kms. Besides that I have the 19"M-sport wheels, i dont know if these are good for these type runs. Quote:
Still waiting to get better weather and dry roads to give it another go. |

Another DCT movie, quality is quite good. It is just my drive back home, but you can see the DCT working. Bought a camera mount and was seeing if it worked. Nothing special happens.
