Seatbelt
I absolutely abhor the seatbelt sounds. It drives me crazy. There has to be some way of switching it off.

Where I fill up my car (regular gas stations), all of the filling lanes accept traffic from both directions, so having the fuel filler on the passenger side means that you often have to pull in nose-to-nose with other cars or slip in and back up to an available pump. I just find it natural to have the fuel filler on the driver's side.
I'd be interested in hearing from previous bimmer owners that are now complaining about the runflat tires on the E90. I have an E90 with runflats and the sport suspension, and I love the car. I consider the ride to be a great balance between handling and the ability to absorb reasonable road imperfections. The steering has the perfect weight and responsiveness, in fact, very close to a Ferrari 328 I test drove last year. I also drove the new Porsche 997 Carrera last year (not the S), and found the steering in that car to be particular heavy, and the ride was extremely harsh. When I took bends on the highway at 75 mph, the car was hopping and sliding every time I went over expansion joints on the highway. Quite dissapointing. I don't have the same problem with the E90 on the same stretch of road at the same speeds. What specific complaints do you have with the runflats? |

I drive a right hand drive car, so my tank is on the drivers side!
I am happy with the E90's handling, even with the run flates. I used to have a sport pack on my e46, and opted for the non-sport on my E90...and I'm loving it. Haven't noticed any loss in handling, but alot more comfort! I am still hating the seatbelt alarm thing...going to email my sales assistant now...to ask if it can be turned off! |

Things I do not like,
-Very limited storage space inside the car,the glove box is Really small -No Auto door locks -No alarm That's about it that I can think of for under a week of ownership...this may be my bad, but I can't find a section in the owners manual or a separate one for the radio. I know most of the functions, but I would like to see a manual for the stuff I don't know. Danny

They should have given you a fat leather binder with all sorts of literature including your manual. In that binder there should be a small supplemental manual for the radio. I also had a small supplement for the hands free phone system which comes with the premium package. - Collin |

You know, after reading the list of things people don't like about the E90 (and some are often repeated) you can't help but wonder if a multi-billion Euro car compay every bothered to do research with consumers. Let's face it, surely a small focus group of potential E-90 buyers would have told them half the things listed here before they went into production. As I have always said "If enough people tell you your drunk, you go lie down". If enough people tell you the window controls are 6 miles away from you perhaps you need to move them a tad closer. See my point?

I have not picked my car up as of yet but some of the things that annoyed me were:
1) The seat belts are NOT height adjustable on the pillar so it doesn't fit everyone right. 2) Non-sliding armrest in the US for iDrive cars 3) NO choice of all season tires on sport package 4) Interior switch/plastic quality 5) lack of standard folding seats 6) lack of cool extras standard, like warning triangle, first aid kit, trunk net, grocery bag holders, etc. (I know I can buy them after the fact but why not include them as standard for an extra $100 so I do not feel like I got screwed.) 7) Have to pay for Sirius prep, is it me or doesn't everyone else include this standard? 8) Window switches.... STUPID. 9) CAN holders 10) lack of storage That is my Top Ten list of annoyances, but all in all nothing is perfect and I love the car in spite of these!! Can't wait to leave and get her in Munich on 8/27!! BEST OF LUCK to everyone |

I parked the car for about 3 hours in the sun with the windows rolled up (sunroof tilted open) and when I got back and drove away almost burned myself on the I-Drive knob! Ouch that thing gets HOTT!!
It took a while before it was cool....I think that's a boo-boo on BMW's part...I like that it's not plastic but yikes! Maybe I need to cover it with something if I leave the car in bright sun again. (I did a search for 'hot knob' before posting this and didn't see any other comments)

I think I might have thought of reasons justifying a couple of things that I at first did not like.
Window buttons on the armrest. I liked the buttons on the centre console of my E46 but when I think about it, I used to unintentionally open the left rear window quite often when I rested my right arm on the centre armrest and my hand inadvertently touched the button. This cannot happen with the buttons located in the door. Furthermore, the buttons in the door are far enough away that I have to reach for them. This is probably intentional; it ensures that windows cannot be unintentionally opened when my left arm is resting on the armrest. Yes, I do drive some of the time with only one hand on the steering wheel. Throttle response. There is a slight lag in the accelerator; nothing seems to happen for the initial bit of pedal movement, maybe 1/16" or so, and a long pedal travel is required to blip the throttle for downshifts. It occurs to me that there might be a couple of good reasons for this. A slow, gradual throttle reaction is maybe an optimization for cars with automatic transmissions since BMW apparently sells 90% of their cars to shiftless people. And secondly, thinking back a few years, Audi had lawsuits from people with automatics who claimed that their cars jumped forward or backward suddenly and unexpectedly for no reason when the accelerator was gently depressed. BMW may have dumbed down the response to cater for the lowest common denominator and to avoid the Audi problem. These are really minor if not inconsequential details and I quickly got used to living with them but it for me it is good to have some understanding of why things are the way they are. My explanations (speculations?) though might or might not be correct. |

Front driver side floor mat require special install so they don't slide forward (maybe this is more an issue with my dealer). My last three cars before the 330i all came with hooks or snaps built in to keep the mats in place, and while the dealer threq the mats in, they were not installed properly and they keep sliding up.
I guess the fact that this is my biggest gripe shows I am pretty satisfied with the car. |
