PS2 VS Direzza star spec VS GY F1 Assymetric VS KDW NT

I am new to the RWD platform, especially with #'s we are putting down with a tune. I guess I need street tire that wears normally for high perf tires. It also needs to be sticky for drag racing. (NO OEM tires)

I guess I need a little from both worlds. I have looked at the reviews online, but they varrie so much from site to site. I would like to get feedback from you guys I guess. I dont care how it turns, noise, ect... (well unless its excessive noise or terrible in corners)

Keep in mind I will be going to 255/35/18. And they are all the same price in canada (exception KDW 200$ cheaper)

Neovas are great, but they are not as good as the Star Specs, and are a lot more expensive. Hands down, the Dunlops are the better tire in that group. Nothing even close. PS2's are 6 year old technology, and the BFG's even older.

What about the goodyears? They are band new tech, and heard that they grip like a mofo!? And I would imagine they wouldn't wear as fast as the dunlops right?

I agree. Get the Dunlops or the Bridgestone RE-01Rs if you don't mind the cost. They are much better than the other tires.

The Goodyears do grip outstanding "for the class they are in" but they don't outperform the Dunlop.

What about wear though. I mean I am looking for a tire that can handle a JB3 only that has the best wear rating I guess....

The Dunlop's will wear quicker but these are all fast wearing tires. The Goodyear is no slouch. It was very impressive when I tested it and it is as sure footed in the wet as it is in the dry.

Either would be great to have.

Gill, what tire would you buy being in my shoes honestly. I need 2 for the rear only right now with the OEM fronts that are almost like new. BMW change the front lately because of wear issues.

If I were you, I'd either buy two more OEM runflats or 4 new tires. Runflats and non-runflats should never be mixed. The construction of those tires is so different it will completely upset the handling dynamics of the car.

Well I want to track maybe once or twice in the summer. Hence why I want a good combo of traction/wear... A seperate set of tire isnt an option.

EDIT: After a lot of research, i ended up buying the F1 Assym's over the PS2's solely on price. I will post my opinions after I get them on the car.

Has any considered Continental Conti Sport Contact 3s? They are the same price as the Goodyears but I think that they are a better tire.

Look at what the fastest guys are running. In comparison to the average street guy we have "unlimited" tire bugets. Our car has under 4,000 miles and we've gon through 16 tires already. We've tested virtually everything that's worth testing.

The two fastest tires that are made in a 255/35/18 are.....

Dunlops Star Specs
Toyo R1R

We interchange between the two of them.

The Bridgestone RE-11 just came out. Haven't tested that tire yet but it belongs up there in the top 3.

Don't think they are available yet. Plus they don't make the correct size for us.
