Seems like half the comments on here are saying the car was overdone, while the other half say it's not done enough. Based on the comments, it seems as if they got it just right.

BMW has officially lost it's goal in making M cars. I never have thought of buying anything beside an M car. Big thanks to whomever ruined the cars I love since I was a kid.

Incase some of you wanna know/remember what a real deal car is;

It does make me laugh that ANYONE on here thinks they are better than an M engineer and they just slap parts on a 135i. Save the idiotic comments.

Wow....

I'm more than cognizant of everyone being "entitled" to an opinion; but if you literally have nothing to say worth reading don't post.

There's a handful of posters in here who've complained, about almost the exact same things, a handful of times.

If you don't like it, cool, gtfo-

I, amongst the few it seems like, love the car, as a whole. I believe it's just right.

I like the fact there's three colors, now at least, reminds me of my '00 Civic Si; there was only three colors, so you had to deal...or not. I also love the fact that there's no DCT, that should force people to drive a manual, or learn -

I hope we'll see some reviews fairly soon, pretty sure the embargo is gone now, and that'll help seal the deal.

Does anyone "know" if they did change out the turbos? I remember reading in a review that there was mention of upgraded turbos...which would definitely differentiate it from a Z435iS.

Sorry for the rant.

This thread is very entertaining....

For what it is worth, not counting the AST's, swift springs, and labor, I spent $2000 on parts just to get the M3 suspension bits on the car. You add a $2000 coilover/damper kit of your choice and you are now to $4000.

So what is missing: LSD ($2000), wider track, bigger wheels/tires, BMW engine tune/cooling kit, and the exclusiveness of being an M-car.

I read in a post that the 1M is going to be ~$9k more than a 135i. Personally, I think that is a heck of a deal!! I was going to sell my 135i because of the way the thing handled stock. I didn't really fall in love with how it drove until I did the suspension work. The 300hp is enough that I already am buying tires every year. My guess is that the wider track is going to make the car feel much more like the handling of my E30 M3. Yes, my 135i is a faster car than my stock E30 M3, but there is a magical feeling to the E30 in a corner. If that is what the 1M is going to be like, it is going to be hard for me to pass up (even with the styling things I don't like too well). MSRP for my car was about $45k for my 135i and I would have paid $1k more to have a sunroof delete. The 1M may in fact be perfect for me, even though I really want an E90 M3 before it goes out of production. I'm one that would love to see the M DCT on the 1M, but it not an option....oh well.

So I guess as I get older I am entertained more by the people who say they wish it was this or wish it was that. Take the car for what it is. It isn't going to be the car for everyone....

I for one, think that this car is special

Lastly, for me the deciding factor will be what it actually takes to put my AST's on the 1M. I'll just transfer them over. I'd like to do the same with my performance steering wheel!!!

One major thing to add to this. What would the value of this M car be 7 years from now vs the exact 135i model modded up to be similar in statue.

The M will go one to hold a higher residual value than the base. I am sure of that based on all the examples of the past!!!

Heard something today that after press day at the NAIAS the car will probably be on a turntable surrounded by glass barriers on public days.
Similar to the original 135i US premiere.

Will it make it to the DC Auto Show?

I realize it's a minor blip on the automotive show circuit, but BMW sells a heck of a lot of cars in the area.

White lights for cluster????!!!!!!!! WTF is going on with BMW!!!!!!???? AHHHHHHHH i feel like screaming...... This car is missing alot of things.......

My opinion: Car should have had warm up lights in cluster like M3, when cluster is lit, lights should be amber...not white like a nissan or toyota/lexus...... wow that bugs me..... instead of their light weight aluminum roof, they should have installed a carbon fiber roof, trunk should be an independent M trunk, interior is pretty nice....i still have not fully understood if the seats are newly designed M seats, with bigger bolsters, and adjustable head rest....or the same seats in the 135i sport with M badging.....I prey for the first......Exterior styling is AMAZING...... I love the use of the curtains for the wheels, a first for BMW, the rear diffuser is so sexy i want to cry, and that orange makes me salivate....... They got rid of the knee air bags for weight i guess.....lame.....but it IS an M so wtv...... Wheel stance is almost hard to imagine its so wide.....245 in front is amazing!

Overall......I love the new 1M.....but if that cluster is indeed white when lit, thats a deal breaker for me......

You're describing what should be a 1 series M CSL variant. Just wait longer and you might get to see it!

Pretty sweet looking car! Have never been a huge fan of the headlights, but looks better here. Love the rear end! Seats are kind of weak.

A nice DCT would have been nice, and faster.

Power output.. Is weak sauce no matter which way you cut it. The car will be in the low-mid 50's with options and 335 HP for a car of this caliber is just not enough.

I guess I am a bit of a power freak though.. I think 350-370 HP would have been awesome

Looks wicked!!! However I am not digging the instrument cluster it lacks the traditional BMW amber glow and looks like the cluster from G37.
