It's probably true if you want exactly the same size rears as come stock on a 135i. I'm not aware of anyone who makes a winter tire in that size. That said. you don't need tires that wide for the snow.

I put nokian hakkapaliita RSi on my stock 18" rims. 225/40/18 front 245/40/18 rear. No issues

Anyone have pics of any winter tires on the stock 135i 18" wheels?
I won't be going into the mountains I just need something to get me through the slush and light snow in the city. I was thinking of these: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2 |

Gill,
I ultimately decided to go for 17s - narrower for the snow. Now I'm looking for a set of BMW Style 256 wheels. Just in case that doesn't work out, I have a saved configuration at Tirerack of Sport Edition F5's and Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D's. The car is not yet assembled, so when it starts it making its way across the pond I will need to get off the fence - by the time it gets here I will need to swap into winters almost immediately. In one respect it would be better to get the whole package, since they come ready to install. I'm not ignoring that point, but I would like to have OEM wheels if I can get them reasonably. Have Fun, Rick |

Sounds good, Rick. Let me know when you're ready. I'd be happy to help.

I think I want to make my stock 264's my winter wheels and go with a nice set of CSL's and non RFTs for the spring.
I was thinking of the goodyears posted up here, any problem mounting them to the 264's and having the RFT monitors work? http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=2
