Rear diffuser removal help (aka I'm an idiot!)

Alright, I admit it, I'm an idiot. Since my performance diffuser should be delivered today, I messed around with removing the stock piece last night, but I couldn't get the clips to release. Am I supposed to press on the painted part of the bumper? I was a bit hesitant because I didn't want to mar my paint. The DIY wasn't explicitly clear about the process of undoing the clips. Anyone want to shed some light on this?

P.S. Yes, I do feel ashamed that I have to ask this question

Just take your time and follow the DIY. Start on one end and work to get that clip loose. If it doesn't after a minute or two, go to the other end. Once you get one clip loose the others will be easier.

This makes me slightly nervous, but I'll keep it in mind.

That's the thing. I was looking at the DIY, but I'm trying to determine exactly where I need to push in order to get the clip(s) loose. This portion isn't really clear in the DIY.

I'll approach this again later on with a clear mind. I was in a rush last night, so hopefully things will work out a bit better.

Thank you both.

Try lifting up on the diffuser while pulling away from the car. Did you make sure that all the bolts were removed???

Got it. It really did come down to just pulling the bastard off there, although the amount of force required did initially have me worried.

Yes, yes you did

But now that it's off, I can see how the tabs are oriented, which is opposite of what I originally thought. They're perpendicular to the face of the diffuser.
