"Pop" while taking off, power down
I took off from a light onto the freeway, and within a second or so I heard a "pop" noise from under the hood, and immediately had limited power. No warning lights or limited throttle, just less power. I pulled off as soon as I could, looked under the hood, and found this:
(DV has "popped" out of the pipe) The car seems to drive fine, just with the aforementioned limited power (seems like a normal 6cyl now with no boost). So, my questions are: 1. How is this fixed? Do I just push it back in, or if this normally happens, something broke? 2. If something broke, I'm out of 50k warranty, but I do have CPO. Is this something warranty would cover, or, would it be better for me to just buy aftermarket? 3. If I buy aftermarket, is it something I could install myself with limited mechanical skills and tools? 4. Is it ok for me to be driving it as-is until I can get it fixed? Thanks guys. This happened to me at about 20k miles. Dealer fixed it. They said it just popped off and the tech took it off and put it back on. I've removed them and put them back on quite a few times sense. Should be pretty easy to do. Just rotate that white coupler. Then it pulls out. Take it out and see if the diverter valve separated from that coupler and see if you can get it back on. Check with the dealer and see if it's covered. Doubt it though. I didn't drive mine until it was fixed. But I guess if you go super easy on the throttle it should get you around. As soon as you get it out you'll be able to tell how it works and if it's actually broken just by looking at it. No tools should be needed.

Thanks for the info. It was dark when it happened so I couldn't look around too much, but I went out this morning.. and the charge pipe cracked / blew into pieces. So, it looks like I'm going to have to replace the whole thing. On to the classifieds section..

Why wouldn't you use your CPO and get a replacement charge pipe?

Yeah, I considered that at first, but from what I've been reading, since I'm running JB I'd run the risk of another oem one busting too. I just bit the bullet and got an aftermarket with a bov.
