I'm so happy to be off the run flats.
even more so now that I've got all the suspension corrected to get rid of the too-soft bits BMW set up to compensate for the harsh ass run flats.

Honestly it's freaking glorious now.

Still, just ditching the run flats feels so much better that The Wife want's em off of her X1 now too. That's some serious testimony right there!

I can't get over how square the sidewall on these tires are. I had 225/255 mounted on the stock 261 rims and if I put them down on the ground, the rim lip touches the ground, not the tire. If I stack them, the lip from the wheel above touches the face of the rim below.

It definitely makes them look narrower than they are (and especially ripe for curb rash).

Interesting timing! So I had an event this weekend and swapped the track tires for the stockers. My 245 RE-71R's are slightly wider than my 255 'stones. When I set the wheel down flat I did notice it hit the rim. Interesting...

So, don't curb them.

Sooooooooooo.....

now I'm wondering if, for these indy 500's specifically, 265 will be the new 255...
I wouldn't normally put a 265 on an 8.5" wheel, but if these are running narrow then could be a thing...

I'm stuck on the 215 & 245 OE sizes, the plus 1's were all backordered when I got mine

I was wondering the exact same thing.

I just have to keep reminding myself, these only cost $360 (after rebate).

Was curious about the cost for 265's, so jumped on TR and compared 245, 255 & 265. Have attached a screenshot of the cart...

Can you see the sweet spot?

Hah, nice. I went right w/ the 265's for the rear and didn't compare, didn't think they'd be so different. Dang.

Wow, big (price) difference with 245/265.

Although just to be clear that's $360 for all (4) tires (225/255 and after $60 rebate).

Also a heads-up, the Falken Azenis RT615k+ is on rebate. 4x 225/45-17's for $366 after rebate...

I'm sooo tempted.

Cars that actually make good power (aka 135's) need wider rear tires than that :P

All kidding aside, that's a great deal on a set of 200TW tires. I've seen tests showing that they're not quite as sticky as the top dogs in the category (RE71 and Rival S) but they're probably much better on track than a PSS or Indy 500.

235 F 265 R should be about max without having concerns w/ rubbing. 225 F 255 R as seen above is cheapest.

FYI there are tons of threads on recommended sizes, why, square vs. staggered, etc.

Thks I read a lot of them but people seem to complain about the ''narroness'' of the Indyvs the PSS... I was Gunning for some 225 255, but it seems like the wheels will pop out and not be as ''protected'' as with a PSS...

After putting about 800 miles on these over the weekend I am quite pleased, I also pushed them a bit through some back roads. Barely got them to spin powering out of a u-turn with tc off. Definitely a good tire at that price point but now I see that I need to get the rsfbs in asap!

Here is my review i left on tire rack about these tires
"I have now put 20,000 miles on these tires and cannot believe the bang for buck you get out of them. I have taken them on two 3,000 mile road trips to the tail of the dragon which they did amazing both on the highway and on the dragon. I have taken them to the track where they also held up very well and even when I pushed them they held on. I have asked a lot from these tires and they have never let me down. After 20,000 miles I still have about 50% tread remaining but once that wears away I will definitely be buying another set. If anyone asks me about what tire they should go with to be an all around tire I always recommend this one and I always will."

I also have a set of falken Azenis RT615K on a set of 17" that I use on the track. Those tires are much more suited for track use than the Indy 500's but if thats all you have then they will do just fine.
