Upgrading/Replacing just the Nav Screen
I have an 08 with professional Nav (6.5 flip up monitor)
Over the years the screen has gotten so dim to the point I can hardly see it when the sun is out. Looking into the CIC upgrade, but that is thousands. I could live with just an upgraded screen. Anyone have any insight into if there is a way to replace just the screen? even with re-wiring or re-pinning? any help is appreciated. |

I don't believe you can replace a CCC monitor with a CIC monitor.
To start, they are different screen sizes, and different resolutions so what would happen would be either: - Screen doesn't work at all - Screen image is stretched - Screen image is boxed (black borders around the screen image) I doubt the last would happen so if you did do this, it would probably be the one of the first 2. I would consider the NBT Upgrade, yes it will cost about the same as the CIC but it is a much newer system, and you will have things like A2DP streaming, internet and apps which would normally require a combox in conjunction with the CIC (so even more $$$ if you opted for CIC) BTW you can get complete used CIC systems off ebay for about $900(AUD) and the only thing you need to do extra is install the hardwired CANBUS emulator to enable the maps and fiddle with the power pins for the screen, the rest is plug and play. Oh and you need some coding. |

Yes there are people that do it, but your better off buying the cable for 100 bucks and learning. Its a valuable skill being able diagnose and program your car yourself rather than paying a shop the minimum 1 hour labour to plug in their computer and press 3 buttons for 5 minutes.
