Is it possible to Retrofit A2DP/Bluetooth streaming from an audio device?
As the title says, is there a unit that I would need to upgrade? (Software, hardware or otherwise to use A2DP?)
08 135i (no Nav) I have BT and iPod in. Thanks, Venom |

It's pretty dumb if you don't get iDrive you don't get A2DP.. I was quite surprised when I found that out after I got my 2012 home.. I want to imagine there's a anyway to get it..

Just someone post this in another thread. You can just plug this in to the Y cable and get bluetooth audio that way if you really want it over using the cable.

My guess is no since the steering wheel controls are only compatible with iPhones and iPods as far as I know. |

Hi Venom,
Since your car is "year one of the 1" it would definitely have the older generation of the Bluetooth hardware (TCU). Bluetooth audio streaming was introduced fall of 2010 when the TCU's were replaced with the Combox. I'm not aware of any retrofit solutions... be aware that the wiring harnesses are different for each. Cheers, K |

I'm also interested in a better solution. I've used a Bluetooth module that plugs into the aux port before, but I wasn't impressed with the sound quality. Now I just load lossless music on a usb stick and listen to music that way. I'd much rather be able to stream though.

The only other one I have seen is this: http://www.amazon.com/ViseeO-Tune2Ai...words=bmw+a2dp
It says you can use the steering wheel controls but I haven't tried it. |

2) Yes I don't think it's worth the $65 I paid for it over the $18 iphone bluetooth interface I had been using. I may sell it & switch back. |

I have '09 with no nav. I followed the instructions here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=356638&page=5
It gives me Bluetooth connection for phone use and I can use the buttons on the steering wheel for that. It also gives me Bluetooth connection for google maps turn-by-turn or apple maps turn-by-turn. But it does NOT give me Bluetooth connection to stream music. I had to get a Bluetooth receiver that I hooked up to the Y-cable (e.g. mpow streambot idock for ~$20). But now, it's seamless. Only limitation is that I cannot skip tracks via the steering wheel buttons. Otherwise, it's perfect. |

Plugs in under the armrest. Depending on what options you have there are 2 different models. I have the hi-fi 676 + combox so mine only has the sub. The other model replaces the Y cable (usb & aux-in). I have that one too for my wife's Mini Cooper. Both work great.

Run your vin through any one of the online vin decoders for BMWs. It will list out all the options installed.
It streams music. Phone calls are handled separately by the bmw BT. |
