Exclamation Sticky Door Handle

Has anybody else been having problems with sticking exterior door handles?

The rear driver side outside door handle is getting very sticky on my 325i (almost 3 months old). It pulls out and releases the door latch just fine, but then the handle doesn't retract back, I have to give it a bit of a push to get it back in.

Not sure if I should just give it a bit of WD40, or take it into dealership.

EDIT: Yae ~ 100th post !!!

I had the same problem and with the same handle at first but then it happened on all of the handles. I would wait until all of them start sticking and bring it to the dealer. The dealer fixed the problem and they work great since then.

Yep, same problem here. Worse on cold rainy days, as it has been for the last 30 days in Vancouver!

Solution: spray WD40 into the hole where the plastic piece of the door handle slides into the door. Then pull/push the door handle rapidly many times to get the lubricant in, and voila, no more sticky handle. And better yet, no need to waste time for a trip into the dealer!

I just had mine fixed at Brian Jessel in Vancouver when I had my car serviced. The dealer said that this is a problem with almost every E90......it is an easy fix and is working fine now

DO NOT SPRAY WD40 in your door handle!!! It WILL eat away at the clearcoat on your paint! Instead, I would try spraying some quick detailer spray between the two pieces. If that doesn't work, pull the door handle out and try using some car wax.

I just noticed this behavior on the driver's handle of my E90 the last few days. It's getting service on the 30th, so I'll probably have them fix it then.

A Service Mechaniker used some grease or oil and with a minute the problem was solved.
