Satellite Radio mistake
I ordered my car back in mid-April. There was a whole bunch of mess with a delayed production date and such (see my other thread about that). Ultimately, my dealer found me a June production date, and emailed me a scan of the order sheet for verification. It had satellite radio, which I hadn't ordered, so I crossed that out, wrote in "Please remove satellite radio", signed it, and emailed it back.
Today, my CA calls and says that it looks like my car has satellite radio And that it wasn't on the original sales sheet, and would I be ok paying for it? Ugh. I told him no, and he's talking to a manager now. Holy hell. Is satellite radio purely an addon, or does it replace the regular HD radio or anything like that? Is there any potential downside to having it? |

I love sat radio. Many stations with no ads. For the money you get many hours of enjoyment, but then again you may not be addicted to radio like I am. It is an add on. Do you have the original build sheet? If yes, then you might have some bargaining power. Don't let a few hundred dollars break the deal unless you want to order again.

Yeah, it's definitely not worth rejecting the car over a few hundred dollars and waiting another 3 months. But I'd certainly like to avoid paying for things I said I didn't want -- in writing, no less. Maybe I can trade them, $350 for the satellite radio but I want cloth + rubber floor mats for free, or something :P

If your CA was at fault then you may have a strong argument, but two kinds of mats for free? Mistakes are made but ultimately the dealer most likely is not going to give it to for free. Remember, you don't own the car until you sign on the dotted line.

To be honest, they're the ones with the bargaining power and it's f**ked up.
Two ways: 1. They re-order you a new car 2. They play hard and say the only way you get this car is with the radio + $$$ They win, either way. They either sell a car for a higher price, or they have a pretty well optioned 135i on the lot that someone could buy and drive out with next weekend. |

update
Went in to finalize paperwork this afternoon, and my CA told me that since it was their mistake they aren't charging me for it
I won't feel too bad paying for those floor mats if they bill me for those after PCD |

That's great they recognized their mistake. At the end of the day this is a relatively low cost options ($350). Unless you had really squeezed them extremely hard on the deal and for some unusual reason they took an abnormally low margin on the sale, they should be doing just fine.
