Exclamation Who's going to trust VALLET parking???

Who here is thinking about vallet parking their E90's?
After hearing what those vallet attendants do to your car, I don't EVER want to give my keys to a stranger. I heard they pump up your radio, AC(summer), do burnouts, donuts, and race each other in the garage. Esp in NYC parking garages... they're not to be trusted.

Yeah, I'm pretty paranoid about that kind of stuff too. To us it's our baby, to them it's just someone's car to try and have fun with.

Can the iDrive/Nav computer be used to log location and/or speed and/or engine speed?

Even if it can't, it might pay to make a sign that says that this logging is happening and leave it with the car as a deterrent.

Ever see that Pepsi commercial where the vallet guy takes the other guy's new BMW and is racing it around the whole garage, then drifts it into the parking space??? Yeah, I want them doing that. I might as well just give it to my little cousin who's 12 and let him take it for a spin.

This is a problem. I haven't had to use valet yet, but I'm not sure what I'll do in such a situation. Maybe I should tell them that I have a hidden camera in the car and I'll sue their *** if I see something I don't like!

I guess anywhere I'd go with a Valet, I would certainly trust them. A specific restaurant here in Minneapolis comes to mind, very professional valet, my e90 is low on his fun list.
Also, I'm pretty well insured, why not.

I just don't like anyone driving my cars PERIOD! Even when my car goes in for service, I don't like the LOT guys moving around the car. I ask that only the tech who I've know for 16 years drive my car and call me the moment its ready or almost ready for pick-up.

Just a car? Then why didn't you buy a GEO Metro - it's a car too, and much cheaper.

valet parking

No.

There is no way that I'll hand mine over to a valet... at least not for a while, and definitely not during break-in.

The Monte Carlo... I go there fairly regularly. The valet is extremely professional and The lot is full of cars much nicer than my e90. He must be a car guy, he seems to repsect and appreciate all of the cars in his lot. When I had my 911, I had no problems handing it over. It's guess I've had good luck with Valets. If I ever questioned the valet as I pulled up, I would keep on going. (yes, I'll judge a valet on his appearance)

I would never say "it's just a car", although it is. Cars are the second largest purchase a person makes after their home. I respect all cars and I do understand the anxiety of having someone drive your car who doesn't love it like you do.

I think I would trust a valet over a friend. Friends always seem to think they are entitle to "cut loose a little" in your new car. Or "see what it can do". It's my car, not a rental. I don't think I would hand the keys over to my friends.

Anyone willing to hand the keys over to friends?

I dont trust them, never will. will never use them, ill let the valet guy ride with me to the spot before i let him touch my car. Im more worried about the idiot grinding my gears or worse, then anything else.

My friends are welcome to drive my car, only because they all know how much of a car freak I am. They know I would probably rip their heads off if they messed up, so things usually go pretty smoothly

I valet parked my e46 last year for the first time. I was out with some business associates for dinner and some drinks to follow. End of the evening, they pull my car up I get in and go. I've got 17% tint and this was late in the evening mind you but I get down the block, check my mirror to change lanes to my right, and double take, look again, there's no frickin mirror. I drive around the block cause it's all one way streets and there's no manager there cause it's so late and the valet company is an ind contractor to the hotel I my friend's were staying at. I talked to a manager the next day and he said he would try to do something but was unable to cause I had left the premesis. Needless to say, that was the last time I valeted. It's too bad they couldn't give you that valet key and when in use it would disable most of the features of the car and prevent from going over 20mph.

At my old place I had monthly parking in a garage that had 24-hour valet service for people parking by the hour (lots of restaurants within a 5 minute walk and no parking lots). I got to know the attendants pretty well because I had to walk past them every day to get my car (self-park for the monthly guys). While they were generally great guys, they also got paid more if they parked more cars and would park a car as quickly as possible. That quick acceleration, etc. But once parked, the car just sat there - those guys had too much to do to have time to race them.
