They did not. Hamster did test the e90 though. But it was the euro base model with a 0-60 time somewhere in the range of 45 years.
Clarkson did a print review though and gave it rave reviews. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3248

This will likely betray a certain, ahem, obsession with a certain British show, but they did review the 116 and the 118d 5 door hatch in Series 5 Episode 9. The series that just concluded is 12 so, this was a few years ago amd the engines have moved on since then.
They described the sides of the car looking like a "collapsed sofa." James May reviewed it and generally liked it. He liked the steering and handling a great deal. However, they kicked it for price versus it's competitors - namely the VW Golf. They also knocked the run flats, hard plastics, minimal boot space and small rear seat space. It was not a great review and ultimately failed due to the price/performance ratio. I've never seen any other review of the 1 other than this. But as GMT II mentioned, Clarkson loved it in print. |

There are 6 different video reviews of the 1 Series , including MotorTrend, Edmunds and Fifth Gear.
Not all are about the 135i, but most are! |

The closest Clarkson ever got to doing a video review of the 135i was the 130i hatch sport vs R32. And then there's the print article.
I believe he preferred the BMW to the VW though in terms of being a driver's car.

That's Fifth Gear, not Top Gear. And what was wrong with the outcome? The final outcome was quite good. If you're not a Porsche fan, that is! http://www.schlafgras.com/fifth-gear...porsche-cayman |

Fifth Gear just did a review of the 123d Coupe against the Audi TT diesel in the most recent episode. You can catch it on Streetfire.net.

I doubt you will ever see a review of the 135 on Top Gear.
They just don't review 'mainstream' cars anymore. For Top Gear to do a review of a BMW it generally needs to have an M badge. They will probably review the new Z4 though. 5th Gear reviews 'mainstream' cars and that's what really distingiushes the content of the 2 programmes.

Considering Clarkson penchant for bashing Bimmers(idrive), it was nice to read his input on the 135i. The aussie top gear show review is also a pretty good indication of what the 135i stands for....traditional BMW brilliance.
Top Gear is arguably the best show on TV.....Please review the 135i on the real version |

For now, the upside-down Top Gear (135i) and Fifth Gear (123d) are it for the non-hatch versions.

First off, glad to see that someone else saw the article on the 135ci. Most people just remember his bashing of the 130tii. He states it is the best BMW on the road, and after having a E90, I agree.
As for Top Gear only reviewing the high end cars, I agree, about 90% of the cars are high end. But they do about 10% of their car review time on lower cars, like some Vauxhalls and such. AND, who can forget the HYSTERICAL episode where they reviewed the 3 top ultra-sub-compact cars and decided that they wanted their mothers to do the reviews. Granted, it was fair, and the review process was done in the form of measuring daily usage like how many groceries could it hold in the boot and things like that, very fair. But having their mothers do it, I couldn't stop laughing. One of the mothers, while racing the car on the track, was using her blinkers in the turns....FOFL! Top Gear FINALLY got released to YouTube. Catch up on old episodes, it is simply the most exciting TV show, let alone the biggest (I believe) at 250 million viewers+.
