Hmmm, I would have track the car a lot to make this worth it.
It may be a great deal in terms of your cost, but that doesn't make it a good deal for what the consumer gets. I guess the E-lsd will have to be good enough for a while.

Man, a 3.46 in a manual car would be WICKED.
I have a gear calc. Here are gear speeds at 6700rpm (Power starts to drop off sharply immediately after) 3.08@6700rpm 1st: 40mph 2nd: 67mph 3rd: 103mph 4th: 136mph 5th: 162mph 6th: 186mph 3.46@6700rpm 1st: 35mph 2nd: 60mph 3rd: 91mph 4th: 121mph 5th: 144mph 6th: 166mph As you can see, this is a ton more aggressive. It would also use more fuel, but probably a lot more fun on the track. At 70mph in sixth, the aggressive final drive would turn 2800 where the standard would turn 2500. I would love to be in the market for one of these, but I have bun #2 in the oven, so its not on the radar. But I wanted to post this useful info for potential HP Autowerks customers, because it sounds like an awesome mod! |

Most of the automatic 135i we have seen have the bolted diff, so all you need for your automatic 135i is the Quaife unit only, not the complete Quaife Final Drive Unit.

Sorry but what is the difference between the Quaife unit only and the Final drive unit.
Do we buy the quaife unit only and put it in the OEM final drive unit ? |

The manual cars have a welded ring gear, thus require a new bolted style ring gear final drive and the Quaife. |

New lower pricing for Quaife will be announced soon!
That means a drop in price for the complete Quaife Final Drive as well! |

Thread revival time !
Just got my Quaife 3.46FD installed yesterday on my manual 135i. What a blast! Car is still on 205/50R17 winter tires, with Cobb Stage 1 aggressive tune. The 3.08 stock FD to 3.46 FD upgrade provides much more torque in all gears, and rear end does not tend to kick out in hard straight line acceleration. Cant wait for winter to end over here in Quebec, Canada, so I can experience this fully on 255/35R18 sticky summer rubber at the local ICAR race track. Thanks to Harold at HP Autowerks for the build, and VAG Motorosports for the install!
