Chrome Rims on a 1er?

I don't think I've ever seen a pic of chrome rims on a 1 series.

Anyway, very good deal for a set of chrome 311s on Partslane. $960 for a set (list price is over $3K.) Who's gonna bite?

Meh. "Chrome rims" are way too ghetto. Buy some good painted/powdercoated/polished alloy wheels instead.

I just bought one over the weekend that has chrome 261M's on it. I'm personally not a fan of chrome, so was planning on posting a wanted-to-trade ad for some standard ones soon to see if there was any interest. I haven't seen any others besides mine with chrome either, so here's a couple pics:

I think it's not bad, actually! The 1 is so subtle in general, that chrome doesn't put it over the top.

If I had a garage and could swap them myself, I'd put a set of chromes in the rotation.

I prefer other set they have listed or you can go with 269 wheels.

Last time I had bras on my cars was in the 80's on my '86 CRX Si and then my '89 Escort GT...I was wearing parachute pants with mesh t-shirts. Don't think bras or any of the aformentioned clothes should be brought back...ever!

Poor man's PDC, go for it. OP, you need to get a black E66 to pull off chrome. These cars are too small and sporty for it to look right.

You can buy them on getbmwparts.com for 105 bucks. I bought mine there. Call me old fashioned I guess (I'm only 27 lol) but I prefer the leather bras as apposed to the clear bras. They need to be changed over time an can discolor and crack over the years plus with those you still have to wash and scrub bugs and other road debris off. With the leather bea just throw it on before a long highway drive take it off when you get there and all is perfectly clean. No scrubbing the bugs and tar off.

Chrome rims were definately more popular in the late 90s but everything else is coming back why not. Those style 261s in the pic don't look too bad

I'd have given it to you for free, but I tossed it, unfortunately. They just collect dirt and sand inside and that just grinds into the paint. I was worried when I was taking it off that I would find serious damage. I've got to clay and polish out the hood, but it isn't too terrible. Car is going for clear bra on Monday morning.

They only damage them that bad if you constantly leave it on like a clear bra which is not how it was designed. As long as you remove it after highway driving and don't put it on a dirty car it won't harm your paint. Mines fine.
