Cool Mtec Cosmos H8 Angels fitted (with pics)

So, on Saturday I got around to putting in my MTEC 4750K H8 Cosmos Blue bulbs...

Passenger side = piece of cake
Drivers side = 45 minutes of hell! Getting the light cover back on was a very hard task, it had to be mm perfect in a place that has VERY little room to maneuver.

The result...

Daytime:

Nighttime:

I'm more than happy, the 1M is now rid of the warm glow, and the Angels match the eyebrows perfectly.

Indeed. But more importantly there isn't any heat increase

We shall know in a few car washes IF you got thos covers back on correctly.

I like the new look - a lot... but the condensation issues with the headlighht failures scares the crap out of me!

The 'covers' are in the engine bay and are plastic. They aren't airtight, nor are they sealed, they simply clip in place. These are the same covers that have been on all 1ers from day 1, so condensation isn't an issue.

Looking really nice Kevin. Do you have a before photo as a comparison though as I don't think that I've seen the stock items properly before.

Stupidly I had replaced the bulbs before I realised it would have been a good idea to take some "before" shots, and what with the hassle of th drivers side I didn't fancy a nother 45 minutes of getting my rat off with the cover!

Trust me though, the stock items are very warm and look very out of place with the eyebrows.

I'd really love to swap mine over when my 1M arrives, but I'm useless at DIY and would end up just breaking it

Do you reckon my dealer would swap them over for me?

I don't think there would be a condensation issue, otherwise that would be a huge problem for anyone replacing burnt out bulbs. We're only replacing the bulbs- not painting the housing or installing angel eyes.

Are you sure there is no heat issue with a 65w bulb?

So all in all did you replace the bulbs for the eyebrows, angel eyes and low/high beams? i want all white/brighter light, but what brands did you go with? I don't like the drabby yellowish tint at all that comes stock on the car. Thanks for your post. It looks great!

Apparently not. 35w draw, 65w output.

The eyebrows are white LED OEM, so do not need replacing. I wanted my AngelEyes to match the eyebrows, so the only bulbs I replaced were for the Angel Eyes, which is an H8 fitment. 1x pack of two bulbs (in my eBay link above).

How close color wise would you say the two are now?

A comparison photo only needs one side to go to stock. Next person to try this swap the easy side first and take a pic please before doing the hard side.

Or... the OP can go install the old bulbs in the "easy side" headlight! NOT the 45 minute side! lol

I would still like to "see" what happens down the road for you. Just do a search on AE over here... you will see how many people have problems with condensation and voided warranty issues with brighter AE bulbs. Just trying to be the word of wisdom here. Becareful when it comes to these bulb swaps.

If this were the case, wouldn't everyone who were installing the LUX Angel Eyes have the same problem?

I have read way too many posts here - where guys changed their AE and a few weeks later needed new headlights/xeon bulbs/footwell module/ballast - all due to moister getting inside. Some were lucky to have their dealer cover the repairs... other needed to pay for the parts themselves. FYI... a new headlight is like $ 1,200 each, ballast $400.

I really like the way the M-tech lights look(the temp)... it is just I have seen too many bad installs posted over here. I am not trying to scare people out of this mod. Just know what you are getting into here. It could cost you many hundreds of dollars IF the install goes wrong.

But isn't it just a simple bulb replacement? Why would it cause any issues?
