By the way, there were no US 2002 Cobras.
There was something like 100 made and they are all in Aussie land. But I got ya, a 99-01 Cobra sounds good too but not as good as the 2 I mentioned above.

I REALLY love the sound of a ZR1, that LS9 really screams even with the stock exhaust...especially when shifting near redline.
Right! I for some reason always think they were in 02-03! Thank you for the correction! I doubt I'll get it wrong again!

Yes...the LS9 is a beautiful sounding engine. My buddy has a 2011 CTS-V and it screams!

I still don't think the GM stuff sounds as good as the fords do. I love the sound of the SC cobras, and even the new 5.0 sounds good; and the gt500 has a great mix of blower and exhaust.

The LSx motors to me all sound a bit tractor-ish. We've had some LS1s, LS6s, and now an LS2 with all combinations of mufflers, exhaust, etc. My favorite sounding GMs of recent past were the old iron block LT1 cars.

I actually think the LS7 is the best sounding stock car GM makes right now. My car sounds great above 3000 rpm, but the idle just isn't right for me.

I've got long tube headers, hi flo cats and a corsa exhaust; so it's a good setup; and sure it makes stupid power...but at a light that POS mustang with just an exhaust (fox body 5.0s or sn95 4.6s) with 225-300 hp sounds a lot better.

Completely agree man! My friends first car was a 97 LT1 Trans AM. He just had some flow master muffler put on. It sounded fantastic. I like the LT1 sound a lot better than the LS1 in the old f-body's.

Took on a Boss 302 from a roll in 1st gear today and I had two friends in my car and he had no passenger, it was almost dead even, he was pulling slightly ahead.

Agree. Ran a '67 Stingray coupe for about 30 years at Englishtown Raceway Park & over that time had a number of engines in it both SB & BB. Car has side pipes with straight through 3" core mufflers for most of its life & agree the original solid lifter LT-1 had a great sound.

Sound was even better with the mufflers out of the side pipes at the track. Mine was a 1970 350CI/370HP solid lifter, pink rod crate engine with 202 double hump heads running Manley SS valves & screw in rocker posts.

It pushed the M4 into second place on my next car list The Z-51 package looks like a winner.
