Something I learnt today

Stopped at the local BP garage and absent mindedly (old age) popped the bonnet, instead of hitting the boot release.

As I was existing the garage, the " Bonnet Open warning " light and chime came on..

Got out and closed the bonnet...

Didn't even realise that our cars had this feature. Probably cause I have never driven off before with the hood unlatched.

When did BMW start fitting this warning function?

It's dealer fitted Zuzu, only added at the discretion of the Sales Associate if he thinks you' are "absent minded" or just a plain old fart. (Don't worry I have it too! )

Must be an "old fart" dealer fitted option, as the first two replies to my post have been from old buggers...

From the Z4 update as far as I can recall.

I didn't have one on my M3 but the Z4 M Coupe had this option.

Thanks Benny,..

Awesome warning, as I didn't even notice the hood was open.

And on the new F20... and F30's... not only do they warn you that your hood is open(unlatched) but there is also a dashboard warning display telling you so!

AND... you have to pull the hood release TWICE if you want to open the hood. I think that's dumb. Bt you need to pull it twice!
