Ordered my FIRST BMW - 128i Coupe :readthethread:

Hey Everyone!

I am soooo excited! Ordered my first ever BMW. Can't wait!!

I initially placed an order for the 3 series coupe but then decided to get the 1 series because it looks amazing. Plus, the 3 series coupe is being redesigned for 2013.

So details of my order:

Deep Blue and coral red leather seats
Navigation
Convenience
Premium package
Heated seats and heated steering wheel

Production number has been assigned. But when I look up online it shows some other color. Hopefully it should go in production soon and will get the VIN soon.

Any others out here with blue and red combination? I am a bit nervous because I hope it doesn't clash and seem odd. I really really like it online but not sure when I will see it in person!

Raj

yes, the website may not show your correct color combination initially. i think it uses the standard dealer allocation build at first, but it will be updated in a few days.

congrats on the build. now the tough part begins--the 8 week wait...

I know! I got my VIN number yesterday and can now check the status the production has begun. The only thing I am nervous about is that I haven't ordered the HK upgraded sound system. Hope the basic sound will be good. Thoughts?

What dealer did you order from in VA? What date did you make the order? I placed mine on the 3 weeks ago and still don't have a VIN.

There are a couple recent threads on this subject, to which I've contributed.
Bottom line: Standard radio os mediocre. If you really like your music you might not be happy.
Problem is the HK is $875, which I would have paid but you also need to buy the CA option to get it which basically doubles the price which I wouldn't pay.

I ordered it from here in Ohio - 3 weeks and no VIN probably means that the dealer did not have an allocation right away to schedule the production of your car. If I were you, I would contact the dealer and ask him to send me the actual status and production code. Good luck!

For me, it was only $875 - since I already ordered the other packages. But the dealer told me that HK is worth only if I was a music connoisseur, which I am not. Anyhow, it's too late now. Am still looking forward to my first ever BMW.

My car was completed on the 20th and loaded on a ship the 29th, so it looks like even though ships depart every few days there is about a week delay at Bremerhaven.

I just got updated status on my BMW. Production is completed. And status says 182 meaning "handover to carrier/load assignment". That means very soon my car will be on the ship to Baltimore!

Update on my experience: Gave BMW Customer Service a ring the other day and the rep said my car was code 112. Basically, nothing is happening. The next step is production. My salesman hasn't been that forthcoming with info. He sent me an email yesterday that said the car is still on schedule to be built mid May, but didn't give a specific date. That sucks. I was expecting production to begin early May since I ordered it April 12. In the configurator, the color choice finally changed to the correct colors I ordered. That only took three weeks to update...

Oh well, First World problems to have, right?

I think the root cause of your problem is that when you ordered your car in April, the dealer did not have an allocation available and he kept that information from you. He may have allocation for May so he is waiting for production to begin. His allocation may have been for production week 20 or 21 and so just now your order status has changed to 112 which is "scheduled for production". Good luck !

The latest status I have is from 3 days ago. It is at the port of exit waiting for it to be loaded on a ship. I was really hoping it will be loaded on the ship Integrity that left Bremerhaven on the 11th. Well technically the 12 th at 30 min past midnight. I am waiting for my dealer to tell me what the latest status is.

I really like my dealership. They are good bunch of people to deal with.

What is your status? Do you ow which week your car is being produced at?

Just got an email back today from my CA stating that I am production week #23. So depressing. I ordered it on 4/12. I doubt it will be here by July 1 which is when I wanted it for a big beach vacation...I ordered it back in April thinking that it would probably take a while, but not this long. I think what is disappointing/frustrating is that the CA wasn't forthright with the production date. He just kept responding to emails that it should go into production mid-May. I think he knew all along what production week his dealership was allotted and kept that from me so I wouldn't take my business to another dealership who had a better production week allocation.

I will have already missed half the summer without the car (it's a convertible, so warm weather is kinda a big deal for enjoying the top down).

The CA also said in today's email that there was a delay at the factory. He said he'd try to find out more tomorrow. I think it's all B.S. and he's just trying to cover up the fact he had a far off production date allocation.
