2013 Navigation Update?

What's the skinny on the Navigation Update? I did a search but didn't get any hits.

I ask because it looks like Tischer has a USB-only option for a mere $42.20.

Does anyone know how the update works and if I can get away with a USB-only option?

It seems unlikely to me that it would be that simple.

Many thanks in advance.

What year is your car? And does it have the 2nd gen Navi(fixed screen) with the hard drive?

IF so those update via the USB port in the glove box. $42 sounds like a smoking deal. I know some makes will charge you many hundreds of dollars and still all you get is a USB drive stick! lol

what year is your car? only 2010 up takes the nav enabling code that would go in the usb drive. Also that usb drive for $40.89 bmw list (65-90-2-338-094) or whatever is just an empty flash drive. that does not include the $204 map enabling code(65-90-2-304-629). BMW just released a bullitin saying this was a new way to sell the maps for the new cars.

The 2009's were the first year with the Nav that updates through USB.

2013 Nav Update

Xtian,

I asked the same question - here's the skinny:
Jason,

What's it going to cost me to update my 2011-build 2012 135i (delivered Mid-April 2011)? Can I do a USB media-only update?

Thanks!

Rich

Hey Rich, thanks for your interest - the complete 'kit' is in on special here on our site for $235.00(FSC code via PDF and USB media stick.

If you order today, it ships free via Standard Ground service within the US - for Black Friday.

Thanks!

I was just told the updates are included in the 4 year/50,00mile maintenance plan.
My 2013 was delivered with a jammed glove box. She just went on yesterday to fix and the SA told me the updated my maps. The 2011 was in my car since it was the only one available at production and now the new year is out they updated it. I ask about next year and was told to bring it every year for update. Until 4/50,000.

I was/am quite disappointed with the Navi on my 2011, it's a piece of shit. They must have picked the cheapest vendor. My Honda sadly had a much user friendly and accurate Navi system.
