Unhappy Can anyone from East Coast with E90 help me please?

Here's the dilemma. I was on the courage which was supposed
to arrive on jan 22. It ended up being delayed to Feb 2. It
will arrive at the New Jersey port and I will in Long Island. Does
anyone know apprx. when i will get my car from the dealer
if the ship arrives on the 2nd? My dilemma is that i do not
have a car right now and b/c of the courage delay I have had
to buy a monthly train pass for the entire month of Februrary now

I was hoping to have my car ready to go by Feb. 1
Now I will most likely have to push back delivery until
the last week of Feb, cause i cant waste the train pass b/c
its 200 dollars. Any ideas, im hoping there will be delays
and it wont even arrive till Feb 15-16th anyway, so I will
only have to wait 8 or 9 days. BUt i dont want it arriving
before the 10th because then the wait will be horrible.
Also, are you even allowed to push back delivery at a dealer?
If so, they do not let anyone drive or sit in the car right ?
My biggest fear is something happening to it in those 2 weeks
while it sits at the dealer.

Let me get this straight, you don't want the car to come because you'll have a train pass that you'll have already bought, but don't want to waste? Why not have them deliver the car anyway but just use up the train pass anyway. Drive the car for recreation and ride the train to save some money on gas till the ticket expires. Please correct me if I'm missing something. Either way, just talk to your CA/dealer, I'm sure you can figure something out.

I would pick up your car asap regardless of your train pass. You don't want the car sitting at the dealer where they might use it as a test drive vehicle "by accident".

Just to give you my timeline (I was US order - not ED) -

Jan 16th (evening) arrived at Port NEAT in Newark
Jan 19th (evening) arrived at dealer in Maryland
Jan 20th (evening) took delivery

3 business days to arrive at the dealer.
4 business days for delivery.

Sorry, but I really cannot afford starting the new lease payment+insurance + spending the 200 for the train pass. The 200 was supposed to go towards the payment.

IMHO, if you are this kind of situation financially where you can't afford to stretch this $200 transportation cost - maybe you should reconsider leasing a car with lower monthly payment.

Either way - I still wouldn't leave it at the dealer. Maybe someone can spot you $200 temporarily?

The thought of my car sitting on a lot where it could potentially be used in a test drive is frightening to me. You KNOW if Joe Customer comes in and asks the salesman if he can drive a car that matches you specs exactly that Mr. Sales Advisor is going to go hunt down your key and show him YOUR car.

Besides that, I think I would've paid $200 to eliminate the whole "waiting for my new car" process. Hell, my car is a week away from delivery & I'd even consider it now.

One other thought - is the train pass transferrable?

Nope, the train pass is not transferrable, but after reading your posts, I think I do not want to leave it at the dealer. Oh well, I'll just get it and park it till March 1. I figure I'll have to pay eventually so might as well just do it now. It's not that i can't afford the lease, but 200 dollars is a lot of money and if i get it, one month's payment will pretty much be wasted in my opinion because the car will sit parked. Why not just start paying for it when i am able to drive it. BUt i guess i have no choice.

Ah, You didn't mention that you were leasing in your first post. Also, if you're not going to be driving the car you can get minimum insurance coverage with no injury coverage to save some money. Then just upgrade the policy when you start driving it.

Unless you can get the dealer to compensate you for the delay in shipping I think you're outa luck. Maybe you can convince them that since the ship was delayed they should help you pay for that train pass? Seems like a long shot though.
