Catless downpipes. no codes after 300km

Is it normal that after 300 km, there is still no codes thrown by the car for emissions???

Of course, if your map has the code disabled, you'll never see it :-)

Or, more specifically, if it is disabled by your tune, you'll never see it.

Nonetheless, if the authorities who inspect your car scan the OBD-II port (as opposed to doing a sniffer test), you car will not be in "readyness" mode and would likely fail inspection.

I believe that Burger Tuning sells a "dp fix" to address this.

Yep, don't forget that 'no check engine light doesn't mean 'no codes'. You may have stored codes and shadow codes.

That really depends on the approach the tuner takes to stopping you seeing the issue - sledgehammer or nut-cracker. My car has decatted downpipes, does not throw a code, does not have any hardward fix and would not fail the "readiness" test

Understand that the tuner's map could hide the codes or CEL etc ... Whereas in my case, I'm still on factory map here.

Depends how many cycles you went through, not total number of miles.

You could go 300km on the same gas tank without restarting the car on a long distance trip, so that by itself won't cause the light to come on. The fault needs to be repeated several times/during several full cycles for it to appear. But you should check if you have shadow' fault codes already. In time it will likely veer its ugly head.

By "catted" do you mean "de-catted"...?

He means with cats, but high flow cats (200 cell generally).

It may not be a hard fault, but you have a code in there. Get a GT1 or Autologic on it and you will see what I mean.

Hmmm, maybe then - suspect it comes down to how strict the test is. I had 100 cell cats on my 2001 RS4 (2.7V6 TT) and it <cough> struggled to pass the UK MOT test.

Likewise on my 2008 RS4 with 200 cell cats, every two years always in the search for a shady (and overly friendly) gas station to run inspection 'check'. Sweet ride you had there, the B5 RS4 Avant is among my all-time favorite rides, now that it is open to Federalization there are a few running around in the States.
