Bridgestone third generation RFT's are coming!

http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/06/r...ck-out-of-run/

Quote:
Without a doubt, run-flat tires do work. Unfortunately, we've never met a set that didn't ride rough, feel like anchors, or cost us an arm and a leg at the register. We typically avoid them at all costs. Determined to make a change, Bridgestone invited us to Italy to try out its latest iteration of run-flats, promising to alter the way we think about the technology.

...

While pricing has not been announced as of yet, Bridgestone expects the 3G RFT to carry a 20-percent price premium over the equivalent conventional tire, a small price to pay from a safety aspect.
Seems to me that Bridgestone readily acknowledges that the current RE050A RFT's suck.

According to Bridgestone they should be cheaper than the 2G runflats.

Even if they are twice as good as 2G runflats, they are still -10x the comfort, grip, and compliance of a non RF.

I've owned 3 cars with runflats now, and never had an opportunity to actually drive on any of them with a flat. I always had blowouts, forcing me to get towed (5 times now). You CAN drive on them if you get a flat. I just never have gotten a flat in them.. just blowouts. FWIW, I've never had a blowout before, in 30 years of driving, except for with RF tires.
