Alex,

Spoke with Adrian yesterday and he's a tad pre-disposed @ home at present.

You need to purchase a USB to serial adaptor (unless your laptop has a serial port). They are about $20 from Dick Smith's etc.

Normally Adrian will load the current maps before shipping, you can leave them as is or tailor them to your liking using the software that links the tune to your laptop.

Cheers,

S

Hi WOPALX, thanks for asking Adrian for me. That sounds great. I am going to wait until they finish the DCT map - I think it is still in Beta.

Hi All,

Thanks Stuart for handling this for me mate. As Stuart stated, I am going through some difficult personal things at the moment, so I may take little longer than normal to respond. I have not been keeping a close eye on the forums, but email me or PM me (which send me an email) and I will get to it quickly.... just not much time for browsing at the moment.

The Procede does not come with a USB-Serial cable. Some laptops have a serial port built in and do not need one. For those without, you can purchase one from a computer store cheaply... or off ebay for a few $$$. The majority of my customers already have one for other things. Also, I can preload the latest maps (and usually do by default). Normally I use the latest release maps, but I can load the betas by request as long as I think they make sense for you (some betas are released specifically to test an aspect for beta testers, and may not make sense for normal use).

Justin, I will email you shortly.

Andrew, I will call you shortly.

Thanks guys for understanding, and sorry if I am not as prompt as usual.

Cheers,

Adrian

Would a bluetooth OBD key be suitable as an alternative? I use one to connect my car to my Torque app rather than snake a cable around. Most modern laptops will have an inbuilt BT transceiver.

Matty some people have tried / accomplished this in the past. If you do a search you might find some other information. Not sure if it works or not.

There are also DIY's for feeding the USB cable through the air vent in the ECU box to the glove box. As there is heaps of space in the ECU box you can leave the adapter connected 100% of the time without issue.

As I'm lazy what I have done is just snake the USB port from the procede harness out of the ECU lid so it sits outside of the ECU box while still allowing the lid to seal. I then just plug in the adapter when needed and run the cable through the passenger side door. Has worked fine that way for the past 3.5 years so figure no point in routing it any other way.

BT has been done before by some of our customers. It works, but we cannot provide support for it since we are not experts in that area, but I am sure some forum members would be able to help.

To be honest, there is little need to connect to a laptop unless performing the updates. Most people connect a laptop once or twice a year or never. In these instances, it is easiest just to connect the cable under the bonnet and then through the window to the passenger seat... there is no need to snake a cable around permanently. Most things you might want to fiddle with are available from the dash control now.

Cheers,

Adrian

Is the AutoTune on the Procede able to accomodate and adjust to E85 fuel available here?

I'm not sure what the upper limits of the stock HPFP or injectors are so will also need to look into that

I didn't think the internal components of the N54 were capable of running on flex fuel

Wouldn't put that fuel anywhere near my car in the first place. PULP or nothing.

No the Procede does not support E85, and the concensus seems to be that the fuel pump in the N54 would not like it.

I personally run E85 in my WRX race car. It is a great fuel for performance, but not for the N54.

Cheers,

Adrian

Thanks guys for clarifying on the E85! I suspected that with the US HPFP issues the stock unit wouldn't suffice (and would be tough finding higher capacity direct injectors...)
Oh well, shelf that idea for now

Awesome. Do you have the meth kits in stock Adrian? Or is there a lead time out of the US?

Thanks for your interest guys.

Full photos and information on the PWM meth kit is available here:

http://procedetuning.com/BMW/n54/methanol/methanol.html

Unfortunately I have not got stock currently, but if there is enough interest, I would carry stock. Typically Australians are less keen to go the meth path than our US counterparts as we are not as used to do dealing with it, where it is commonly used on lots of different cars in the states, so they are more comfortable with it. Currently I can get stock in about 2-3 weeks depending on how US stock levels are. The system has been very popular in the states, so we have mostly been catching up on preorders, but I think we are getting on top of that now, so stock should be available to me more quickly.

Cheers,

Adrian

Watch this space!!

We have PWM meth running on our shop car N55. It is just a matter of time for us to modify our N55 charge pipe to suit the PWM meth kit. I would say it is a matter of weeks. We already have a charge pipe for our previous generation meth kit for N55, so we just need to update that and release the firmware we are using internally with PWM meth support (along with a bunch of other things that are ported across from the N54). Price should be the same as N54.

Cheers,

Adrian

It can. It is just not as straight forward. You just need to hook up the hobs switch separately. No big deal.
