Passenger Occupancy Mat

Hello all,

I've looked everywhere for the part # for the OEM passenger occupancy mat for the airbags on our car but realoem is only showing that the sensor is " included with seat cover HG52"

Can't find a part # that clearly states where the seat occupancy mat is included.

Can anyone direct me to another thread or site where they've found a fix? I plan on running the occupancy mat in an aftermarket bolstered seat to avoid any error messages.

I have the same problem, except I want to keep my OEM seat. Mine's broken and throwing codes and causing annoying gongs to go off.
If you are going towards aftermarket seats - just get an emulator, no need to try and retrofit a sensor into a seat it wasn't designed to be in.

The reason I ask is because I'm looking at Recaro Sportster CS seats and I know the mat will fit under the seat just fine....I just need to get a hold of the mat. Unfortunately OC3 emulators cause the passenger airbag to deploy even when the seat isn't occupied. I want to run the setup as close to OE as possible.

I think back in the day the sensor was a black box under the seat that could be purchased separately but nowadays newer models have them embedded into the seat itself and it's rather expensive. It's been a while but I think I encountered this issue on my Z4 so I just purchased an emulator on eBay that worked fine. See my thread here:

I managed to find a part # for the mat

65779153119

Nothing is saying if this is/isn't compatible with certain models though. I see a confirmed fit on the E9X M3 but I can't imagine the electronics for the airbag are different between the non-M e9X's and e8X's.

Edit:

Got under the seat and the connection for the seat is the same as the one pictured in the part # safe to say since it fits E90's it'll fit our cars. This way we can run without the seatbelt light being thrown by an emulator

Just curious why are you against using an emulator (or coding)? Is it because you think it's not as reliable?

emulators trick the car into thinking someone is in the passenger seat which in turn trips the seatbelt light. Basically trying to avoid throwing lights where ever possible and not having the passenger side airbag blow in a wreck if no one is in the seat. Plus a mat is a lot cheaper than the Macht Schnell emulators.

Gotcha, didn't realize the mat was cheaper than the emulators. In my case the non-brand emulators were much cheaper.

Yes they're cheaper from what I'm reading. I figured the oem occupany mat will keep it functioning like its from factory, since the recaro sportsters have removable cushions, just adhere it under the cushion and all should be well.

Theoretically of course. I'll know more once I bite the bullet.
