I had a set of 17x8.5 ET 40mm and found them to clear the suspension by only a few mm. That was too close to me. An 18x8.5 ET 40 would have more clearance as the suspension is angled and the wider the wheel, the further it gets from the suspension.

I have installed on my 2011 135i TCKline coilovers with stiffer springs(450 in front and 700 in the back) and M3 control arms and bushings. The car is much lower than stock now. With the upgrades(Intake, Dinan stage II, downpipe...) I currently have 400HP and 465 Lb torque.

I have been going to the track 6 times a year, and my Michelin's PSS are wearing out on the front tires on the outside. I know these cars tend to understeer, so I was thinking in doing some changes.

Do you know if 235 40 18 in the front and 255 35 18 in the rear will rub with the car lowered and stiffer suspension? I am thinking in getting Toyo's R888 for track only. All I want is to have more grip and wear less on my front tires. Any other suggestions that could give me better results? I have lots of power and good grip, but the front ones are not lasting much unfortunately.

In addition, those R-Comps look heat cycled out already...the bluing on the shoulder should not be there, Just IMO.

Question about this --- if a 'square' setup is preferred, why does the sport package come with staggered? Not trying to be smartass, but I am debating going to square with my 128 sport package so I really want to research this.

Most of the time, looks. I see no different engineering involved that utilizes the rear tires.

On a lower HP car, there is no advantage on running wider tires in the rear, IMO.

You should be able to get 235 or 245s up front and have plenty of tire in the rear to put down the power.

a staggered setup or skinnier tires up front is prone to understeer when pushed hard which is easier to control than a car that oversteers. think snap oversteer. it's a safety concern. going square neutralizes some of the understeer at the expense of a more tail happy car.
